I guess Sen. Santorum must be surprised from Sen. Specter's comments after the election. I guess this show that Sen. Santorum is a Republican first, a conservative maybe second and a Catholic third as long it does not get in the way of his politics or career.

The Seniority system stinks. The last time it was used we got Bob Dole in 96 and boy that did a lot of good.
It's time for the Best man for the Job instead of the OLDEST!

This is a defining moment in Santorum's career. He likely will not win reelection, nor should such a pusilanimous wus be given an important role in the Republican Party.

As far as I'm concerned, Rick Santorum sold out when he came over to New Jersey a few years ago to campaign on behalf of former GOP governor Christie Whitman -- who will be remembered as one of the most radical pro-abortion politicians in this history of this country (from either political party).

It'd be hysterical to see Toomey beat Santorum in the '06 Senate Primary, and go on to win the election.
I do so hope this happens.

If he and Bush had backed Toomey, just maybe Bush would have won PA.
Another RINO craps on the core.

Really bad thinking by Santorum. Good reason to oppose him as any kind of a Presidental primary candidate.
Who cares if you win with somebody like Specter. If the Senate were a one vote organizational advantage, maybe. But that is not where we are. Better off with a loss to a Dem who might get knocked out six years hence.

While the decision was controversial with some, Im convinced it was the right one. You don't need to convince us, Rick.
But I think God will demand a better excuse. Until you find one, you might want to avoid taking Holy Eucharist.

...I supported Senator Specter because it will further the causes in which I believe and because it?s in the best interest of my state...
Then you are either an idiot, or one of the bad guys.

Folks, you really need to calm down with regard to Santorum. He made a terrible error in judgment when he endorsed Arlen Specter, but he's also proven to be a true friend of conservatives during his 10-year tenure.
I would suggest you give him a pass on this bad decision, but make it clear to him that another mistake of this magnitude will not be tolerated.

Temporary diminished capacity is the only defense. Alternatively, even a good person sins occaisionally - go forth and sin no more.

This was a statement put out by Santorum on 8 July '04. President Bush also supported Spector. Both did so in order to save the Senate and both did what they thought they had to. The question now is what are their views on Spector as Judiciary Chair, NOW?
