Marine accused of wrongful shooting needs our help...
16 nov 04 | Atlanta

Posted on 11/16/2004 4:34:34 AM PST by Atlanta

I'm going to start with a communication of support of this young Marine, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself. Then, President Bush and my Senator/Congressman.They are going to hear from me and I have all friggin day to do it. I am so livid about this that words cannot describe. As a former Marine myself, this young "Leather" was doing what he was trained to do, adapting to unreasonable circumstances (enemy tricks) and he did exactly what I would have done and what has always been done with a fanatical enemy. If authorities hang this Marine out to dry, I will never stop raising hell and will become a point man for pulling these guys out of theater entirely...MSM is SICK. Other suggestions?

I phoned the NBC number and told them that I was disgusted by their coverage of the Marine incident. I said that they still produced news as if we are all stupid out here, and don't know what's giong on Iraq. I told them they are the ones that are stupid. That everybody knows about the executed, shot in the head people who were found and the torso of the female. And why don't we see anything about it scrolling at the bottom of their insipid programming. I told them that their ratings were down and going down because they are irrelevant.

Where did you get this number(1-703-614-2500)? I called it and got some guy saying,"This is the commodore's office." I looked up the Marine corps website and got 1-703-614-1034/1054 for PR.

I do so hope that this Marine, who was himself shot in the face the day before, does not face charges. It will be terribly demoralizing to our troops if he does.

good post. that is indeed a interesting (and true) perspective on this - it is coming here, not tomorrow, not next year, but someday.

They need to get these TRAITORS out of the so called,
"embedded reporter" situation in Iraq and send them back
home on the first flight out. They finally had to evict
Geraldo Rivera because of his irresponsible reporting.

Senators, etc., have begun to pay little attention to e-mails. If possible, best to (1) hand-write a letter, then (2) type a letter, (3) make a personal phone call and, last, (4) fax.

I'm kinda in a tough spot even at that. I have Hillary and Chuckie Schumer as sens and my congresscritter is an out and out socialist, so, now where do I turn?

I think Geraldo made an honest mistake with what he did.. I'm not so quick to jump on him like alot have. He has spent alot of time with the troops and you can see it in him that he genuinely loves those guys.

Keep us posted. I am outraged by the actions of the MSM, continually pushing negative news on us, trying to find something to hang the US with.

as a Dutchman, and a newbie here, I too am outraged at this scandalous treatment of this fantastic soldier, is there anything I can do besides spreading the truth on this over here?

Just saw an interview with Bret Baier of Fox News. He talked to Abizaid about Marine incident. Abizaid said that the incident would be investigated and that the have the UCMJ to handle any problems, BUT he said that one has to look at the conditions in Fallujah.

He mentioned the cells, the places where be-headings had taken place, the stocks of ammuntions and firearms. In other words, I think he was telling the MSM is a not so subtle way, that it would be prudent to tell the WHOLE story of Fallujah, not just this one incident.

Good for him, and good for Bret to get it from the main-man himself.

I remember watching a documentary on Iwo Jima and the mop up operations that followed the battle. Any Japanese soldier who was suspected of "playing dead" was shot. Period. You either legitimately surrendered or you were legitimately shot.

If this guy was pretending to be dead, (and apparently he was) then it was proper for him to be shot whether he was armed or not.

Bret is a good guy.

If the MSM continues their jihad against this marine, Rumsfeld better get out there at a press conference and take them on.

When the enemy is feigning death and fixing themselves
with suicide vests, taking half a dozen Marines with them
when they lure them in to "help", imagine. In a perfect
battle scenario, with soldiers in uniform lined up facing
each other in battle, things go more as planned. This is
a whole different scenario, unfortunately, where walking up
to a guy playing possum on the floor gets you and your
whole platoon blown up, it bears some consideration.

John Kerry went out of his way to do the same thing to a
wounded Vietnamese teenager in the back, and got a medal for
it. Will wonders never cease?

Welcome to Free Republic--

Do you think anyone over there would take kindly to you communicating with Americans. We hear that America is full of "dumb people" according to a lot of Europeans.

I take it, if you enjoy this website, that you don't have that opinion of us. Perhaps, you could try to tell some of your friends that some of we Americans can actually think and speak in full sentences. HA!!!!!!!!

FWIW There is a problem with writing a letter because it goes through screen process at congressional post office for biological and explosive material. My Senator's (Graham SC)office recommends e-mail since congressional P.O.has a 30-40 day screen backlog.
