Marine accused of wrongful shooting needs our help...
16 nov 04 | Atlanta

Posted on 11/16/2004 4:34:34 AM PST by Atlanta

I'm going to start with a communication of support of this young Marine, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself. Then, President Bush and my Senator/Congressman.They are going to hear from me and I have all friggin day to do it. I am so livid about this that words cannot describe. As a former Marine myself, this young "Leather" was doing what he was trained to do, adapting to unreasonable circumstances (enemy tricks) and he did exactly what I would have done and what has always been done with a fanatical enemy. If authorities hang this Marine out to dry, I will never stop raising hell and will become a point man for pulling these guys out of theater entirely...MSM is SICK. Other suggestions?

If he was already dead, what is the problem with another bullet? If every soldier at the spot say they made a mistake and the terrorist was really dead, then that might be even better, since there is no way to murder a dead man, making the one who shot the terrorist "not guilty" for the claims of murder.

The Marine that shot the wounded man had no reason to believe that the man was unarmed. He could just as well have had a gun underneath his robes

....or a grenade

By rules, regs and decency, we do not shoot wounded enemy combatants. Period

Understood.

We do not need any false jingoism about him being hung out to dry. He apparently screwed up. He got caught.

And I know you used the word apparently, but how about we wait for the investigation and any legal action, if it's required, before we go there?

That's a job of a good lawyer. I just hope the Marine will have acces to a good lawyer that will prove him not guilty.

The NBC embed turned the tape over to Reuters as I understand it. Who released it and the rest is history.

Will someone please post pictures here now of the Americans sitting down for their beheadings? Or how about some more of people falling out of the WTC? Lets get a perspective for people like Mindbender...

Are we not in a war? It's beginning to feel that way to me. These 'people' have a history of faking death or booby trapping their dead, and trying to kill our soldiers. He did what he thought he needed to do. I see no need in taking prisoners. Especially, to be treated and released so they can go back and kill our soldiers. But I'm not PC and never will be.

Let's inform the congress man about that too, for the MSM to violate regulations.

I think we can all agree that all of the facts are yet to be known.

Sorry, but I cannot support what this Marine did.

Unless there is a clear threat from the insurgent, the Marine should not have killed him. Although other insurgents have booby trapped themselves, that does not give this young man the right to assume that every wounded insurgent is a grave threat.

He did not even take the time to asess the situation. The wounded man was breathing, and the Marine shot him. The guy wasn't even moving.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this. But before you do, I want you to know I have 3 loved ones in Iraq and I support the job they are doing. But this Marine acted in a very unprofessional manner. He didn't think, and in my opinion he committed murder by shooting an unarmed man.

Kerry never admitted that the man or boy he shot was running away. It was others that claimed that.
