(summary from German) The German Green Party wants to exchange one of the Christian Holidays for a Muslim Holiday. The Green minister in the cabinet agrees to the plan but coalition partner SPD (social-democrats) don't think the economy allows such a plan.
The Christian-democrats do not agree with the plan because of Germany being a country based on Christianity.
Around 3,4 million of the 82 million Germans are Muslim.
They are considering 9-11 or the sugarfest. But if you submit Bomb Kippur I think they'll consider that as well.
:-)
"How about a holiday celebrating the defeat of the Muslims at the gates of Vienna in 1683"
another good one: the Battle of Lepanto
it is honored on Oct 7 as the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, due to the many rosaries prayed for the success of that battle.
Would bishops today ask us to pray for victory over the enemy who would destroy Christianity? Do I need to ask?
