I am wondering when the Democrats became the party of the elitists. That used to be the moniker they threw on the Republicans--the Democrats were the party of the blue collar, union, ethnic minorities. Now I find it amazing that they have become the elite simply because of left leaning professors, left wing media who do not have an opinion of their own but what someone else writes for them, the Hollywood group who are all sustained by the hard earned money of the middle class-elitists don't go to movies and concerts, they to theatre and opera-and are supported when they aren't working by unions.
I think many cruisers, martini drinkers, and ballet goers found it hard to align themselves with the self serving attitude of the left and that is why they voted for Bush rather than Kerry. Bush is certainly not the be all end all, but the change presidents in the middle of a very nasty war would certainly spell destruction for each of the troops now serving in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
I don't watch football on Saturday or Sunday, I don't believe in guns, I don't thump a bible and would be hardpressed to find someone to call me a red neck, but I DO NOT NEED SOME BASTARD READING FROM A CUE CARD TELLING ME HOW TO VOTE.
Now, I can stand down from my soapbox and go have a nice bottle of French champagne, some caviar and feel good about myself!.
uhhhh.....did I write this and just don't remember doing so? :)
Democrats do not claim to be elitists nor are they seen so. Liberals are held in this manner, however. This is because that liberals tend more often than not to be intellectuals. Conservatives on the other hand tend to come from other social groups. In this case elitist does not mean wealthy. It means education.
p.s. This is not an insult to conservatives.
You know, I don't know why we are acquiescing in the leftist propaganda that Bush supporters come only from the ranks of rednecks. As this forum proves every minute of every day, there is a great diversity among those of us who are right-wing Bush-loving Republicans. Culture and conservatism are not mutual enemies. This is another area where we can't let the leftist bigots frame the debate. Seems to me that being an elitist can have a positive connotation when applied correctly.
The only guaranteed vote the 'Rats have is from the city folk who want their welfare checks!

The Republican strategists have a great opportunity here...all they have to do is look at the red/blue map and figure out how to cross the urban goal line.
p.s. This is not an insult to conservatives.
My intelligence tells me that only a person of ignorance would make such a silly statement, so friend, no offense taken.
Huh?
Hummmm... why am I thinking 'elitist'?
FYI menedies signed up to FR tomorrow 11/16/04, do I smell something burning?

I know very well what my tagline says. I also know the origin of my tagline.
Well why didn't you say so?
From my profile:
I have updated my FMCDH (From My Cold Dead Hands) sign-off with the addition of (BITS).....Blood In The Streets, which I foresee coming soon, due to the enormous increase of the Marxist progressive movement being shoved down the throat of this failing REPUBLIC through the Judicial tyranny of fiat law, the passing of unconstitutional laws by the Legislative and Executive branches of our government and the enormous tax burden placed upon the average American to support unconstitutional programs put forth by Marxist ideology.
