A rough summary/translation (excuse my bad English): Christian Ströbele, a prominent member of Schroeder's green coalition partner (enviro wacko-turned former (?) commies)suggests to replace a Christian holiday by a Muslim one.
Stroebele who had also contacts to the terrorist organization RAF (at least) in the 70s: "I would welcome a legal [Muslim] holiday, say at the end of the fasting month Ramadan." As a compensation a Christian holiday should be abolished. An Islamic holiday meant an social upgrading for the 3 Million Muslims in Germany. "These signs are necessary after the events in Holland", Stroebele said.
Bavarian conservative home secretary Beckstein replied: "This proposal shoes that the Green Party wants to sustain their blue-eyed multi-kulti-politics".

"I`m just sick and tried of Europe as a whole"
and there are many things which do make one sick . . .
however, there are still some good folks there -- But do you think their, and our, media wants us to hear about them?
The battle with Islam is for civilization as we know it; and we would be a bit isolated with a Muslim Europe. And Middle East, and Africa, and a good bit of Asia . . . So it is worth hoping Europe does not fall. I wouldn't nuke them just yet! ;)
Crikey! That's a heck of a list of Christian Holidays. No wonder they never get any work done. And I thought we had it bad here...
Last Thursday was Veteran's Day, and all the goobermint workers had another day off, while us vets were working. Go figure, K.
Whit Monday = Pfingst Montag
Best regards to the Buckeye State (at least to the right majority)!

As COMPENSATION?? Isn't it 'compensation' to recognize as official an Islamic 'holiday'? I think they mean CAPITULATE! What do they need to 'compensate' for? A minority immigrant population? Maybe they should just openly start eliminating the infidels (Christians and Jews) and save the wait and worry.
"This proposal shoes that the Green Party wants to sustain their blue-eyed multi-kulti-politics".
Is that like "blue eyed soul music" only evil?
Oh, and this is a very bad idea, they might add a holiday, I suppose, but I wouldn't take one away.
"(at least to the right majority)!"
where I live is the reddest county amongst the red!
4 more years!
P.S. I do think very little of Schroeder for giving the Greens the respectability of being in the government. There were several former terrorist-supporters among them. Shame on him. But I do not blame all Germans for Schroeder and Fischer, just as I did not blame myself for Clinton!
"I do think very little of Schroeder for giving the Greens the respectability of being in the government."
There are more reasons to detest this mean character.
And I come from the blackest (most conservative) of all disticts of Germany (Lower Bavaria):-) To my regret: The solid South wasn't enough to beat up the Northern Pinkos and Eastern Commies.
Why not just impose sharia law and the caliphate and be done with it, you Dhimmis!
Yes, we're at least Dhimmies who have some rights.
But Schroeder, Fischer and Stroebele are godless soialists/commies. Hmmh, maybe sharia is not as wicked as it seems...
Auslander raus!
Of course I am sympathetic to you sir! I meant the other guys.
Ströbele for an Islamic holiday in Germany
Monday, 15 Nov 2004
Berlin (Reuters) - The green politician Christian Ströbele has spoken out for a legally established Islamic holiday in Germany, and correspondingly for the elimination of a Christian holiday.
"I endorse a legal holiday around the end of the fasting month of Ramadan", said the deputy Green party head in the newspaper "Die Welt" (Tuesday edition). To compensate, one of the many Christian holidays would be eliminated. An Islamic holiday means a social recognition for the more than three million moslems in Germany. "Certainly such symbols are necessary in view of the attacks in Holland, Ströbele said.
Federal Secretary of the Environment Juergen Trittin (the Green) said to the newspaper, he was receptive to an Islamic holiday in Germany. "But first Muslims and the Muslim society would have to agree." The SPD interior expert Dieter Wiefelspuetz dismissed the suggestion. "That is certainly well intentioned, but does not take into account the present economic situation," he told "Die Welt". Bavarias Minister of the Interior Guenter Beckstein (CSU) said to the newspaper: "The suggestion shows that the Greens obviously want to hold completely to their naive multicultural politics."
Two weeks ago ago in the Netherlands a radical Muslim killed the Islam-critic film director Theo van Gogh. Since then there has been a series of attacks on mosques and churches there. These acts started a debate in the country over its generous policy toward foreigners. Politicians of the CSU and the SPD had warned that in Germany it could become just like in the Netherlands, strife between moslem immigrants and natives.
"To my regret: The solid South wasn't enough to beat up the Northern Pinkos and Eastern Commies."
Have you looked into vote fraud? If they are anything like the liberals here, they will have the cemeteries emptying to go to the polls. Fortunately, I do not think the Republicans are going to let them get away with it here wholesale anymore.
This kind of vote fraud is impossible in Germany. You don't have to register to vote because everybody is registered. If you're eligible to vote (18 or above, german citizen) they send you a card and tell you at which place you have to vote. with this card + your id card you can vote then.
"card + your id card you can vote "
you mean that showing an id at the voting place is not considered voter intimidation? ;)
Seriously, sounds like a sensible safeguard
Thanks for your answer.
