As the WND article points out, had he substituted "blacks" or "Hispanics" for "born-again Christians," Keillor would have been excoriated by his fellow liberals. If he were lucky, he might have gotten a night shift at the NPR station in Duluth or Hibbing after such a statement.

FWIW, Keillor is an apostate Christian. Despite his jokes about Lutherans and Norwegians, he was raised in a family of Scottish and English background that attended a Plymouth Brethren church, an early dispensationalist group.

Keillor has made a good living poking fun at Christians, which includes touring and producing CDs as a member of the "Hopeful Gospel Quartet." I used to like to hear him tell a story, but I won't be listening to this hippocrite any longer.

Actually, his denomination is the Sanctified brethren, an offshoot of the Plymouth folks. Something about dispensationalism is toxic to creativity, and artists who escape its lethal embrace can become the most virulent anti-Christians. Like shock rocker Marilyn Manson...
