City Considers Jail For People Who Don't Take In Trash
NBC 4 Columbus ^ | November 15, 2004

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Residents in a Columbus suburb who haul out their trash cans too early could be hauled off to jail under a proposed law.

The Pickerington City Council is considering the measure, but some members are worried the ordinance's current language could lead to first-time offenders being thrown in jail.

Councilman Ted Hackworth is trying to pass a law that would bar people with Friday trash pickups from putting their garbage out before Thursday night. And it would require them to take the cans in by Friday night.

He said some residents put their trash cans out on Monday and leave them out all week.

Councilman Mike Sabatino said jailing someone for leaving trash cans out is a little over the top.

Nice seeing you around.

I listen to the Truckin' Bozo show when I can't sleep, which is very often, unfortunately.

" heard a joke on the Truckin' Bozo show (yes it is real - good to listen to when you can't sleep!) Truckers listen to it overnight, and often complain about unduly aggressive traffic enforcement against trucks. SO . . ."

i watched on "worlds wildest police videos" several clips where the police used CBs to ask truckers to do rolling roadblocks for them to catch fleeing criminals.

you would THINK after that - that the cops would have a "new respect" for truckers. . . . NOT.

Isn't it just wonderful when people can craft and then live in the sort of society that they wish to?

Hi muggs!! :)

Yes, they also have weather reports and some good news items. I turn it off when it gets too annoying; but turn it back on later, if I am still awake!

Take care!

You can never have too many laws.

'a "new respect" for truckers. . . . NOT.'

Yes, truckers do help catch criminals, find missing drivers and stolen trailers, etc. There are a lot of eyes and ears out there at night . . .

I think it is the revenue. The pressure is prob. on to write so many tickets. Most drivers would rather they pick on truckers than be pulled over themselves! so there is little incentive to avoid ticketing trucks . . .

A city-wide homeowner's association. How clever. Next they'll ban flamingo lawn ornaments.

"He said some residents put their trash cans out on Monday and leave them out all week."

What kind of idiot would do this? That means you have to walk farther to take the garbage out every day.

Jail is so underrated anyway. Where else can you get 3 hots and a cot and no rent?

If they have a garbage Bear problem like Eureka Ca does you have to make changes. In Eurekas case they had the garbage company delay their trucks until 6am so we can put our cans out in the morning. Some people for whatever reason still put their cans out the night before... :~)
