I think the President should appoint Don Nickles as Secretary of Agriculture -- great conservative from a solid red state who is retiring from the Senate.

The MSM is going to try and make a big deal about this, but unlike democrat administrations, Republican cabinets tend to have a big turnover when the President is elected to a second term. This is because the people Republicans pick are usually successful in the private sector, whereas democrat choices tend to be career government people who have no other career abilities in the private sector.

Why not Don Rickles? Press conferences would be a hoot.

Don Nickles would be an excellent choice for Secretary of Agriculture. If I remember correctly, his family operated a farm equipment company in Oklahoma. That makes for a good combination: Small Businessman + Active Involvement in Agriculture + Conservative + Favorite Son of Red State.
