Hopefully the power of his position as Majority Leader will make him reconsider

I hope not. Frist was useless in dealing with the Dem's filibusters. He even let them go to the Iowa Caucus when he should have been holding their feet to the fire.

You may be right, and his mettle will truly be tested once Bush makes a Sup Court nominee (assuming Bush doesn't nominate a Souter), but I was speaking merely to the importance of holding this Senate seat, which Frist could do easily.

I just hope that the GOP has someone who can match the Obama-like treatment that will be affored to Ford by the media.

But he's displayed surprising strength lately and has done an excellent job keeping the pro-amnesty forces in check. Take it from a guy who witnessed him pitching a tantrum upteen years ago because I dared demand he present I.D. before letting him get gas (because rich punks were committing the most drive-offs). It was only a matter of time before he went back to surgery - he's still one of the best heart surgeons in America.
