True, but I live out here and it's not too far into the future before an assault by loser towel-heads like those at San Francisco State will be answered a little more aggressively than was done this time.

I cannot support that talk. What I think we should be demanding is that our leaders, both academic and state (as well as federal) kick these students out of the university, and deport them or prosecute them for assault, verbal threats, and treason.

If our leaders continue to ignore the threat to law and order that these people present, they will indeed have to contend with the less principled among us. We will all regret it when it happens, trust me.

Where is our political leadership? Gavin Newsom, the man who could stomach any sort of twosome, the one who is preoccupied by union negotiations today, the man whose slick styles and vapid comments about morality have swept the media, what is he doing?

We are like a rudderless ship on a Sargasso Sea.

You contend we need a political leadership "solution", then you document the vapidity of political leadership. Yet you decry the coming vigilante justice. Just what the he!! is your position? Middle of the fence?

Frankly, a good punch in the nose is sometimes the most efficient way to change a landscape. We used to operate this way a little more often, and I think it wasn't all that bad.

Well it looks that way. Like you I see following the law in respect to crimes committed and if need be, deportations is the true way to go. As you put it, we are like as rudderless ship with no direction and no captain with convictions. Nature abhores a vacuum so either somebody will take charge and resort to more drastic measures or more likely, you'll have independent actions with no "legal controlling authority" (fed up people acting on their own) all over the place. People can only take so much and if there is no true leadership, then there will be lot of people acting on their own like they are doing in Holland.
