I smoke...and here in the rural red zone they have not gone to the nazi tactics of NYC, Chicago, SF (and other metro's). There are several food joints in town that have a smoking ban, and the only good lil' restaurant that ALLOWS smoking is my preference -and that of many others (good food, pleasant owners, etc..) despite being a little hole in the wall.
And they use real ashtrays -not saucers :)
P.S. MARLBORO MAN is welcome here in the red zone...screw NYC >:)
There are plenty of little places here in NY that ignore this stupid, idiotic, unnecessary law.
Still, THREE pubs in my neighborhood have folded and remain shuttered and unsold.
This is a law that NEVER should have been passed -- especially in a state that still doesn't have a budget (one was due on APRIL 1).

NYC is full of bar tenders, carpenters and house painters from Ireland who aren't legal. The late shift at my local bar is permanently staffed by Seans and Brians and Seamuses. If you're going to deport illegals, start with "sand goblins." If we didn't have a politically correct immigration policy, there'd be a lot more Irish here, legally, and the country would be a lot better off.
