It was announced during the second half that Tom Brokaw was in attendance at the University of Oklahoma/Nebraska game at Owen Field in Norman. The minute he was announced, you could hear loud boos from around the stadium.
Have no idea how he had the nerve to return to OU after his debacle of a speech for graduation last May. I think he received louder boos then when Nebraska came out, and even more than the penalty we got for fans throwing oranges onto the field near the end of the game.
Chalk this one up to flyover country that detests the mainstream news media. You probably will never hear this from the media except our local radio but it was hilarious. Everyone around where we sit are Bush fans and after they stopped booing, they started laughing at the reaction of everyone. Then they launched into a discussion about how biased the so-called mainstream media was in the election and how people like Brokaw should stay out of the red states. It made me really proud of the Sooner fans -- this truly is Bush Country.
I know why my favorite color is RED!
:D!
I actually did that to Leonard Nimoy at a Star Trek convention back in 1992. The con was 3 days prior to the General Election and he started dissing 41. I was standing next to the stage and in front of about 500 ppl, I did an abrupt turn, marched back to the middle aisle through the chairs, turned back up toward the stage and marched out the door. We weren't there to listen to politics and I was insulted that he would use the medium to make a politcal point so close to the election.
That was an odd game from Nebraska -- it was all about ball control not scoring. Bob Stoops isn't one to ever run up a score -- he had them take a knee earlier in the year against Texas Tech on the 1 yard line so we didn't score.
We were down in the 90's when Blake was the Sooner coach -- it was horrible. Must admit that I am glad he wasn't on our sideline or we would still be mediocre.
Andrian Peterson got hurt in the A&M Game and was hurting all week so he played very little. Probably good too because the weather wasn't the best although the rain did stop soon after the game started but it was cold.
See my post #21 -- he was a total jerk!
Thanks! Hope you guys beat Tech next week!
Life is good and it's good to see OU back on top again. I still miss Lil' Red, though.
Good to see the guys show Nebraska how it's done.
Fantastic response.
Hunt with what? Spitballs?
Nebraska didn't look like Nebraska, but could Fox make a game any more boring? This isn't the first time either. The last time I watched a Fox game, OU-somebody. I don't remember - because Fox made it so BORING.
Dang.
Oh yeah, good to see Brokaw get booed.
It was totally MIA!
Good job Sooners (and I'm a Cowboy fan)..
OH MY..They may someday get the message!..LOL
Lol
Big 12 bump..go Mizzou
Husker,
I long for the days of yore when the Huskers and Sooners would line up and beat the $(*# out of each other. I hope in a year or two it will be that way again.
However, you are right. Stoops is all about ball control this year. Last year the Sooners were pretty much one dimensional and that killed us in the end.
Go Big Red!
Boomer Sooner!
I remember that - I was all over that thread. Glad to see that the OU faithful remebered his speech as well, and gave him what he deserved for making it. What kind of arrogant jackass comes into town, trashes the President and the graduating class he's addressing, pockets 75 Gs for his vile spew, and then not only returns, but makes a big deal out of announcing his return? What did he think, that everyone was going to forget what he said and toss him bouquets?
Enjoyed the win but I think I enjoyed hearing Brokaw boo'd just as much!
Why was he there? He doesn't even have a connection that I know of, he's from South Dakota.
Boomer Sooner!!!!!!!!!
