Dutch Muslims Dismayed by Anti-Islamic Backlash THE HAGUE (Reuters) - Selami Aydin's words will comfort many Dutch people if opinion polls are to be believed. "I'm thinking of going back to Turkey. Seriously," the 39-year-old Muslim said just a few hundred meters (yards) from the apartment police stormed last Wednesday after a 14-hour siege with suspected Islamic militants. "We're all frightened." The Netherlands' image as the land of tolerance has been shattered in the two weeks since outspoken filmmaker Theo van Gogh was murdered and a Muslim suspect arrested in the crime. Since Van Gogh's death on Nov. 2 there have been at least 20 arson attacks on mosques and churches in tit for tat violence. A Muslim school was damaged by a bomb on Monday, another set ablaze on Tuesday. There have been a number of minor arson attacks on churches and a classroom at a Catholic school in Eindhoven was destroyed by fire on Wednesday. In the latest suspected arson attack on Saturday, a small mosque in the south was destroyed by fire.

Self-interest dictates that it is not a wise move to return to 11th century standards of living instead of remaining in the 21st. Much has been made in the MSM of the self-loathing jew stereotype (example: NY liberals who support the PLO in its quest to destroy Israel). I'd contend that TROP adherents actually have this issue to resolve. They want all the benefits of the modern world but hate the West for doing what they could not in their Third World cesspools.

The tolerance got abused one too many times. Funny how terrorism has a way of doing that.
Muslims of the world, if you want to be trusted, take your religion back and prove to us that is truly a religion of peace. Speak out against hate and murder. Speak out against the fatwas issued by clerics who hate the West. Speak out against the evil done in the name of the religion you claim as yours.
Speak out, or shut the hell up about the way the world reacts to the actions you would not disavow.

Purely for my ego. It helps me focus on why I get so frustrated with the ones who don't speak out. Look at all the libs who march around with signs that say "not in our name". They may be wrongheaded, but at least they are voicing their opposition to an act they don't believe in.
When the going gets tough, the not so tough get going.

I have talked to a Muslim coworker about this. He says that many would like nothing better than to assimilate & forget Islam altogether. That was possible 20 years ago. But now that there is a critical mass of mosques and fellow fundamentalists here, they are intimidated and threatened into supporting the Imams.
The irony is that they come here to get away from those cesspools, but ultimately end up trying to recreate them 'cause its whats familiar. In fairness, all immigrants try to do this to some degree. The difference is that past immigrants wanted to build up their new society, while many TROPers want to tear it down.
