Hollywood, We Have a Problem

By Lisa Sarrach

November 12, 2004

The famous and the infamous out in La La Land are crying in their lattes over last week's election results. Therapists down in Florida have reported a huge increase in everyday Liberal patients in Florida so upset over the results; they've already termed the phenomenon, P.E.S.T.

P.E.S.T. now appears to have a foothold in Hollywood. It appears the star of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Vince D'Onofrio, has already succumbed to the ailment, as he apparently fainted on the set in despair over the election and the mandate from his bosses to refrain from political discussions during work hours.

Barbra Streisand (web site) who famously misquoted Shakespeare in an attempt to skewer President Bush earlier this year, has now used statements from Thomas Jefferson when he was John Adam's vice president to basically state, that this evil (Bush's 2nd term) will pass.

Of course, Jefferson was speaking about the unconstitutional alien and sedition acts of 1796 that eventually led to their demise and his ascension as president in 1800. But never mind, we'll let her continue to ramble and use quotes out of context if it helps her get over her case of P.E.S.T.

After all, we are the Party of compassionate conservatism, eh?

And of course, Madonna has weighed in and requested an end to the war in Iraq and removal of all our troops. Madonna is receiving her therapy from the Kaballah rabbis, no pricy therapist for her, she just hands over her "contributions" to the Center and gets the therapy for free, I suppose.

Michael Moore....his case of P.E.S.T. is so severe, relocation to Canada or France may be the only way for him to heal and escape "Jesusland."

I think he was out of school (Yale) less than a year when he made Primal Fear. Gere is a good actor, and he kept up with him. Hell, he even kept up with DeNiro in that caper movie a couple of years ago.

For a really funny performance you should check out Kilmer in Island of Doctor Moreau. He plays opposite Brando. At one point in the movie he stuffs a pillow under his shirt and does a dead on, scathing Brando immitation from Apocolypse Now. I don't know whose idea it was to put those two in a movie together, but it couldn't have been a very happy set.

Spill The Wine, Summer, and several others. I just remember hot days, swimming with friends, riding my horse through the unmown grass, taking her swimming in the lake and listening to the radio. War was a popular group at that time and got alot of airplay. (this was in the early and mid 70's) Gawd, do I sound old.

We can learn a lot from a middle aged woman who wears her underwear on top of her clothes.

Confirmation that liberalism is bad for your mental mental health.

So since it's bad for you, let's ban it like they do tobacco and assault weapons!!!

Good grief. People will sell their soul for money, won't they?

The only movie I've seen Val Kilmer in is "The Doors". I thought he was good in that one.

Vincent is so cute. I loved him in Full Metal Jacket, Mystic Pizza and Men in Black. Haven't seen any of his other work.

He's good in everything he does. But from reliable reports, he's clearly out of his mind. If memory serves, he was the youngest student Julliard ever accepted into its acting program.

Several times. Forgot about that one. Don't pay too much attention to whoever else is on the screen in a Tom Cruise movie.

The Saint is good too. What's this about Val being 'out of his mind'? I don't keep up with personal lives of the stars unless it's rubbed in my face, but I like his work.

If you like the Motown stuff, you'll like War. Let me know what you think after you listen to some of their music.

I thought Gibson actually came out and said he wasn't supporting the re-election of Bush. A conservative family man regardless.

P.E.S.T. is the populist name for what is clinically known as veritaphobia.

Probably required as part of his visa application to France.
