Here is some of that 'huge segment of the country that doesn’t think like us'. Looks alot like most of the people that I know.

Reading this post, I was reminded of a quote I read on an office wall. It took some searching but I found it:

The society which scorns excellence in plumbing as a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is an exaulted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy...neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water.

Replace "philosophy" with punditry (or journalism or media stardom) and "plumbing" with almost any blue-collar occupation, and you get the gist of what Marr is trying to say.

The elites have nothing but contempt for those that labor to feed and clothe them, light their homes, repair their appliances and deal with their wastes.

Well, NASCAR, something I can't figure out either. Reminds me a lot of the junk car racing they used to do down at the figure 8 track SW of the Harvester plant.

Otherwise, the media elites have absolutely no excuse for losing contact with the people they want to watch them.
