His views are refreshing. I honestly think he makes some excellent points that the democrats if they had any scruples would read, discuss and ultimately digest. Maybe they need to go to a red state spa?

There must be some out there who see the self self-destruct mode of the democratic party a clean slate to move the party into a different direction. Ever take a map and choose the scenic route only to get there 4 hours later. The democrats could do this, but, it might be a faster road if they heed the message this author has penned.

The democrats in 2006 and 2008 will obviously use every trick in the book to fool people into believing that their evil political organization has "moral values."

Already, the despicable Nancy Pelosi has announced that the democrats are going to use "the language of religion" to foist their horror-show candidates.

embodied the deepest ideals of the Democratic Party: pro-worker; pro-minority; pro-economic and social justice...

Statements like this still chap me. Where is the justice in taxing the producers to fund the lazy?

For my wife and her family, being a Catholic meant being a Democrat

That is utterly retarded though. As a Catholic I can say that.

I realize that some people (mistakenly) view FDR as some sort of social folk hero but he was a horrible anti-Chatholic bigot who exploited these voters. The character of Mr. Potter (the villain) in Frank Capra's classic Christmas film It's a Wonderful Life was based on FDR.

I'm sorry, but only stupid Catholics remained in the Democratic fold after the 1960s and Roe vs. Wade. Catholic teaching does not mandate the kind of socialism that has been served up by Dems over the years.

History tells us the Dumbocrats are following in the footsteps of the mid-nineteenth century Know-Nothing Party which collapsed under the weight of its own obtuseness, and ceased to be a functioning political force. Like the Know-Nothings, Democrats will be relegated to the dustbin of history.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein warns cluelessly that gay marriage was pushed too fast - as if the troglodytes in the red states (and, oh yeah, in Oregon) need more time to see the light.

Even THIS guy doesn't get it.

I believe if the scientists at NASA discovered a single cell organism floating at the bottom of a primordial pool under the Martian polar ice cap, they would proclaim "Life found on Mars!". How much more infinate is the miracle of humanity?

Our youngest son has Down syndrome, and Democratic policies often benefit the disabled in ways Republican policies don't.

This guy must have had a wild one last night.

But it's also true that children like our son are becoming extinct in part because the abortion lobby has a stranglehold on the Democratic Party platform, with all that it implies for legislation and judicial appointments. The easiest response to handicapped children is to kill them before they arrive. That's not a solution. That's homicide.

Just a curiosity, but is there another social movement in the last century or so that espoused the same views, and do these modern proponents of that movement understand the ramifications when they tell us it's the Republicans that are the modern incarnation of it?

To the best of my knowledge, a substantial majority still oppose a total ban on abortion. For every Democrat like this wife, there are otherwise Republican women (and men) who will vote Democrat when faced with a howling pro-life candidate (think Alan Keyes).

The reason Democrats continue to slide is a simple one. They are the party of personal irresponsibility. The extremes of zero tolerance nonsense like guns (can't even draw a picture) or drugs (can't even take an aspirin) are simply Democrat collectivist policies that remove responsibility from those that are a problem and punishes the innocent by denying them liberty.

It's that simple.

The party is only going to go the Howard Dean direction.

Hard left.

They're convinced that they weren't angry and hateful enough last time around... And people wonder how the Nazis came into being...

That pretty much says it all. That explains why 57% of Catholics in Maryland voted for the President (while 53% of Protestants in Maryland voted for Kerry). In 2000 approximately that same percent of Catholics voted for Gore. Slowly Catholics are being weaned away from the Demoncrat Party because of their pagan values.

Her family home in Chicago is lined with photos of the Kennedys.

This is something I just don't get. As much as I admire the Bushes, I wouldn't have my home lined with their photos. Well maybe one or two if I was in the photo with them. :)

Bill Clinton and the Clinton crime family was the best thing that's happened to American politics in decades. Clinton may have won (barely) two consecutive terms as POTUS, but he presided over the decimation of the demoncrat party. Governorships, the House, the Senate...all of those majorities are gone. (Knew you were good for something, Billy)

When I read of a old style Democrat still loyal to their party, I am witnessing a person stuck in the past and comforted by the easy associations of distant memories. "Democrats fought for the little guy" and "Republicans were a party of the rich." Ha! Ain't so.

Demoncrats should really look at how the Clintons have fared versus their party in general. Same for other so-called Dem leaders: Jesse Jackson, Teddy Kennedy, etc. It's not a party about the little guy. It's for the ultra rich, the Hollywood and Eastern elite, it's the cult of personality, of perceived style over solid value based substance. Just check the map. What you see is Red blooded America versus Blue blooded elite.

Like I said, this is the best thing that's ever happened to American politics. Won't the world be a better place when this American political revolution spreads throughout the rest of the world!

I truly believe that many pro-life people have continued to vote Democrat because they know that Roe V. Wade won't be overturned anyway. I think that this year, a lot of those same people had their eyes open by partial birth abortion.

I, personally, talked to many, many people that I know voted Gore in 2000, that voted Bush this year because PBA goes over the "line". They were willing to look the other way knowing that the President couldn't outlaw abortion anyway, so they threw up their hands, and voted Dem. But the PBA vote this year was just too much. I know of at least 5 votes that Feingold lost on this issue alone.

Also, we must all work diligently in the coming months to convince “progressives” that the Democratic Party has let them down. They must abandon the party. Their only recourse is to join and work for the Green Party moving forward. I may even register as a Green Party member to swell their voter registration rolls. Divide and conquer.

Begin with putting all known “progressives” in your sphere of influence on the Green Party mail list from their website. Great fun. Start inundating them with information now.

These issues are central to the resurgence of the Republicans, central to the national implosion of the Democrats, central to the question of whether there will be a third party

Very astute. There will be a major third party. As both mainstream parties continue their headlong progress to the left, a conservative third party will emerge. It is just a question of whether it will be one of the fledgling right-wing parties in existence now, or whether it will be something new.

Agree; he does make excellent points for sure. . .sounding the call as does Zell Miller. . .and a few others.

I only wish the Catholic Church was as committed to making the same distinctions - firmly; publicly - denoucing - ex-communicating those who publicly rest in a double talk re this issue.
