Fire his ass. Condi did not scold on bad advice, be assured. The good team (us) does not need a loose cannon, anywhere, anytime, anyplace.

I think this may have been blown out of proportion?

Yelling at somebody is assault. Grabbing their arm is battery.

Instead, he abruptly left the administration and announced this week that he had joined Barbour, Griffith and Rogers.

The woman in question, who is married to a foreign service officer in Kuwait, did not file a formal complaint. But senior officials at the State Department took her concerns seriously.

Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage called her on Powell's behalf and expressed regret for the incident. Armitage then visited her and her husband during a recent trip to Kuwait to assure her that her concerns were being addressed, the State Department official said.

Sounds to me like he has got "exactly" what is required for state dept. employees. Total incompetence and an ego that would make Slick Willie whine!

I agree completely. I have know a number of these egocentric types in Washington years ago.

In many instances these guys are exposed to aspects of National Power just long enough for them to develop a skewed sense of both their own importance -- and acceptable professional conduct. Happens all too frequently.

Fry his sorry ass. His conduct is reprehensible by any standard.

And, in closing, another Washington truism: If a member of the administration cannot be replaced in a heartbeat -- the administration itself has failed in its basic responsibility of ensuring both accountability and continuity in the conduct of national policy.

Although I exclaimed while ranting "fire" he had already quit. Do you think this was the typical either quit or be fired scenerio?

If so, how pathetic. I shudder to think how many great American BRAVEHEARTS get sacrificed because of this sort of idiocy, jackasses not doing their jobs.
