To add there is a common scam if you have ever posted a "for sale" ad online for a vehicle or piece of equipment.The scam is a interested buyer overseas that offers an amount far greater than the asking price.The seller is to take his sale price and shipping costs out and than refund the balance.His payment to you is no good and it will take time on an international payment to clear, meanwhile your refund payment to him is gone.

For example, one reader called to tell us about an advance-fee credit card scam that had tricked her. She paid a fee in advance to receive a new credit card. What she got was a list of banks that have credit cards -- all for the hefty price of $198

What an idiot.

More like 28 common scams. How about the State Police requests for donations to their scholarship fund for children of policeman who've died in the line of duty?
