Okay, folks.....from now until January 20th, this will be the official thread for all correspondence related to the Kentucky Chapter of Free Republic and Inauguration Day festivities.
Please post any plans that you, the loyal Kentucky freepers out there, have in regards to the week of January 20th, 2005 and the celebrations therein. If you have any suggestions for Kentucky freepers, post them here. If you want to share a trip into, or hotel in, D.C. with fellow Kentucky freepers, post it here. If you have insight into, or are looking for, accomodations or lists of activities, post them here.
Here are some important links to check out in regards to the Inauguration:
Official FR Inaugural Ball Thread
FR Thread: Cheap Airfare to Washington DC and the Inauguration
Here is the first piece of information regarding Kentucky Republicans and the Inauguration that I have. I received this Monday from Jim Weise, Chairman of the Hardin County, KY GOP.
Folks:
IF there is enough interested, Don and Margie Martin, MARMARTIN137@aol.com have volunteered to seek bus transportation to DC for the Inauguration. Contact them directly if you are interested. Cost and feasibility will depend upon the number of folks who wish to go.
The following events are scheduled:
Tuesday, 18 Jan 2005
KY Bluegrass Ball (Black Tie)
Marriott Wardman Hotel
6:30 PM Reception
7:30 PM Dinner
$150/person
If you are interested in attending, please give Danelle Bowsher the following information: Name for each person wishing to attend, complete address, phone number
Send the info to danelle@rpk.org or call (502) 875-5130, Extension 302. Danelle will forward the address info to the KY Society of Washington as they will be mailing out the invitations. If you wish to reserve tickets by credit card, go to The Kentucky Society

(No additional info is available regarding this ball.)
Thursday, Jan 20, 2005
Swearing in on the Capitol Grounds
(You will need to obtain tickets from one of the Kentucky U.S. Senators or U.S. House offices.)
Inaugural Parade
Presidential Inaugural Committee Ball
Hotel Info: The KY GOP hotel is the Marriott Wardman in Washington, DC. The number is (202) 328-2000 and the room block is under "Commonwealth of KY". The Republican Party of KY has a room block of 50 rooms and about 80 additional rooms will be released to the Republican Party of KY over the next month. There is a 3 night minimum and it is $349/night. You do not have to stay there. Don Martin told me that he has worked with a travel bureau out of Lexington and he thinks he should be able to arrange more moderate prices depending upon the number going, etc.
Thanks for the Ping. OT:seems like it's rained all day.
I love your tagline, and have enjoyed the rain!!
Homeschooler (of 3 girls) here too, I've called it "movie day"!!
I've shut the news off today, cannot tolereate any more biased reporting at the moment. I am still upset at how little they made of Afghanistan's elections. It should have been shouted from the hilltops.
It will get better!!
;) you are right it will. I decided to take refuge in NEMO , LOL it seemed appropriate with all of the H2O about.
You are right Hilltop shouting should have been the order of the day.
Can you give me some info? Four of us are attending the Inauguration from CA and want to attend the Freeper's Ball. Is the Texas Boots and Blue Jeans just for KY or for everybody? Thanks for your information.
I had the same question. Did you ever find out? If so can you let me know. I would love to go.
Nobody seems to know anything about anything so far. I had much rather attend a Freepers Ball than the CA formal one with the same people we see at everything. Can't wait to meet some of you guys I've been on line with over the years. I wonder if we should contact somebody from Texas to see if they have any information regarding their "Boots and Jeans" Ball? Stay in touch and perhaps we'll get it before to long. So far, all I have is a plane ticket and hotel room for 3 days...
I am not able to attend the shindig in D.C. Is there anything in the works for a more local celebration here in Kentucky?
RPL, sorry I didn't get to you sooner.
See my new tagline....
