LOL - I'm an old kid then I guess. I still separate my food on the plate, and eat one thing at a time. My relatives delight in pointing this out to me at family dinners.
Quel horror!
Didn't ZZ Top have a song about them?
Don't feel bad, I do the same thing!
Charles Willeford wrote one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen in a crime novel (can't remember which one of his it is). Three old bachelor cops get together for dinner at the apartment of one of them. The host cooks six Swanson Hungry Man dinners. Turns out they all love them, and they all always cook two, so they can combine their favorite meats, vegetables, and side dishes in their own way. They discuss Hungry Man dinners at length, from a gourmet's perspective, in perfect seriousness.
I buy one or two TV dinners a year just to remind myself that I hate them.
Frozen MRE's. Some of them are not that bad.
I like to bring them to work for lunch. My wife is embarrassed as she buys a dozen or so at a time for me.
A few years ago, we realized that our kids had never had a TV dinner. I've never seen so much excitement in the house as the time they came out of the microwave!
OK folks, what are your favorites. Mine is the Banquet Mexican Combo.
I also like Maria Callendars Chicken Pot Pies.
I have fond memories of growing up with the Swanson turkey dinner...with peas, mashed potatoes, and that little section of cherry cobbler for dessert.
Back then, of course, many people watched two TV sets at the same time.
I understand TV Dinners are the mainstay of Scott Peterson. :)
ZZ Topp
TV dinners, there's nothin' else to eat.
TV dinners, they really can't be beat.
I like 'em frozen but you understand
I throw 'em in and wave 'em and I'm a brand new man, oh yeah.
TV dinners, they're goin' to my head.
TV dinners, my skin is turnin' red.
Twenty year old turkey in a thirty year old tin.
I can't wait until tomorrow and thaw one out again, oh yeah.
TV dinners, I'm feelin' kinda rough.
TV dinners, this one's kinda tough.
I like the enchiladas and the teriaki too,
I even like the chicken if the sauce is not too blue.
And they're mine, all mine, oh yeah
and they sure are fine.
Gotta have 'em...
Society lost something when they switched from aluminum to plastic so they could microwave 'em. I think it was called "food poisoning."
Marie Calledar's are my favorites. My children consider a huge treat if they can get Kid's Cuisine.
I like the Hungry Man enchiladas that come with the coconut pudding. Nummy.
I used to hate tv dinners and microwavable meals, but I must admit the quality has improved greatly in the past few years. It's still not as good as a home cooked meal, but at least it's edible now.
As kids, we thought having a TV dinner was fun! I was a sucker for the little desert brownie sandwiched between the mash potato and the green beans in the meat-loaf dinner. A CLASSIC!
LMAO...GMTA, I had it C&P'd...lol
