The author has posted that this is a first hand account; ie: he was there. Good enough for you? I guess the test will have to be - do Jesse's comments fit his normal template....answer is - yes!
As for a source to be necessary to meaningfullness.... Virtually all the press refuse to give their sources. Do you reject all press accounts (including conservative press reports) out of hand?
Sometimes we are left to evaluate reality for ourselves - sources or not!
who was his audience, really?
Excerpt: But in Dublin earlier this week, another reverend, this time the well-known human rights campaigner and Democrat supporter Rev Jesse Jackson, made clear his difficulties with this particular brand of morality.
"We must have a definition of morals that is authentic - there must be some morality in how you treat people and America . . . These same forces did not see ending slavery as a moral issue. They did not see ending legal segregation as a moral issue. They did not see women's rights as a moral issue. We must fight for a definition of moral that is wholesome and real."
Jesse had better hop over to see his friends at the PLO. Not too late for him to jump in with Yassar.
So, Jackson thinks I'm stupid?
I will challenge him to an IQ test any day.
Jesse Jackson should have long since passed into the realm of wayward irrelevance.
But I always enjoy his speeches for the pure humor value.
If it's in the Times, it probably is not true. If it is a one person hearsay, it MAY be true.
Sorry, I always take things at face value, ESPECIALLY when it's something that I want to hear.
I'm sure Jayson Blair would be able to corroborate.
Heresay is worthless. Next.
Another brainwashed soul.
If a normal human being tells you what was said, its worthless, but if the ordained amongst the mainstream media pass the word to you, it is gospel.
We'll ping you when the NY Times comes down from the mountain with tablets of quotes for you.
:) Celtic AND Viking! :)
Thistles, Plaid, and a little ale for good measure :)
"Is this quote credited to Jackson in Dublin, from the speech you heard"
no, but he's given about 5 speeches this week. That may be from his speech in Universtiy college Dublin (UCD)
The Event in Trinity had no reporters present. A friend who attended the speech WITH Journalists and the one without said that the difference in tone was huge.
He basically went nuts last night. He said the people of Spain made the right decision, and that "negotiation is the way forward" on the war on terror.
i can't believe the Irish people let him in
Why would the Irish invite an ignorant bigoted fascist like Jackson to speak to their venerable historic society?
Saints deliver us! Has Ireland gone "politically correct"?
I just don't understand why an article "certified authentic" by some dingbat with a crappy journalism degree is any more concrete to you than an a firsthand account by somebody who is not a reporter.
>>Good enough for you?>>
No.
Hey Dead,
I was at a President Bush speech last night, and he said that the borders were going to be closed tomorrow at 10:00 AM cst, and that all illegals are going to be deported. He also said that all registered Republicans were going to pay NO taxes this year!
I don't have a source, but I was there!
Heh, I can (to some degree)
My grandpa (Rest his soul) told my dad a story of a time he went to a pub in Ireland.
Upon recieving the bill, my grandfather pulled out a British Pound, the "bar wench" said (and I quote) "I'm sorry sir, we do not accept personal checks"
He then used this story to underline the fact that Ireland is full of morons.
;) nothing against you clover-lovers, just the truth as I know it. It's all in love.
Do you have a link?
What a shame. I would think reporters would be falling all over themselves to cover his every word. Getting those words out, in light of what you heard, is another story.
It's like Dixie Chicks II, except we can't boycott any music ;)
