I am certainly no expert on any of this and can only offer an opinion based on my own observations, but also after having spent some time in France in particular, the presence of Muslim extremism would horrify anyone who could see it first hand.
It's a cataclysmic coming together of rampant, energized Muslim fanaticism hell bent on domination, and a weak, diminishing, and aging native people who no longer have the will to resist. Native citizens of Europe ( I can only speak for France here) are aging, not having children, and the words I would often hear, particularly from the older folks, is that they are tired, and that they are old - that Europe is old (see - the even call themselves "Old Europe!"). They've been victims of tyranny throughout the past century, their hearts ripped out by 2 extremely costly and tragic wars. They are ripe for submission.
It's my fear that with the rapid advance of Muslim extremism will overtake Europe in our lifetimes, and that again it will fall upon the United States and "New Europe" (and the UK) to destroy it. Here we go. I believe we can and will destroy this enemy, the fight began on 9/11. No looking back. If Islam itself must be destroyed, then so be it.
Not so many years ago I was with a group of friends in a dorm room and we were discussing how that, in our short lifetimes to that point, our generation had no major wars. I guess we have it now.

Us, India and New Europe will have to take on Islam.

Welcome to FreeRepublic.
With a name like ClockworkO, perhaps you've read 1985 by Burgess, set in an Islamicized England. (It's been a long time, so I don't remember much about it).

Solution : Encourage immigration from non-muslim countries like India, China, Sri Lanka, Thailand etc - viz people who integrate easily and would act as an effective counter to the Muslims.
