Regardless, I love it when people claim that we see the world in black and white; it is code for "I am smarter than you". As a lit major (YES, we have liberal arts students here on FR) all I did was discuss literature in shades of gray. Nuance is not lost on us, and we don't see the world in complete polar opposites.

However, when it comes to values, there is "right" and "wrong". There is "good" and "evil". Clubbing a Muslim girl with a baseball bat is "wrong". Who here cheered for it? I suppose you don't think Muslims see the world in a black/white paradigm. Either you are or you are NOT Muslim. Not Muslim opens you up to horrendous possibilities at the hands of those who are. You are an infidel. You have no religion. You are fair game to these people.

I have worked with these people in the oil industry and understand that their beliefs are non-negotiable: there is no discussion, no compromise.
