and their families. Specifically, he is raising money for The Fisher Houses - the Ronald McDonald houses for the military. The Fisher House Org. provides a home at the hospital for family members of severely wounded serviceman/women and those who must undergo extensive rehab. FH flies the family in, provides the loding and when the service member is able, provides for him/her to live at the home with the family while he/she goes through rehab. Give the show a listen. Graham started this yesterday (and interviewed many of these men/women and their families) and thus far they have a little over $100,000.00. This is a worthy cause.

AMEN!!!!!!! THE NAME JOHN KERRY COME TO MIND? and let us not forget his buddies - Michael Moore and the lot. They would do real positive things with their money, despite their dissents, if they were decent people.

Can we get a thread started for all the different sites available to help our soldiers? I have 4 more - 1 from Tony Snow, 1 from General Vallely, and another for disabled vets returning,& operation ac,etc.
I would do it but don't know how -

I don't know how either. Thing is, two are Fox News and one is ABC - I don't know if that matters.

The funds are independent of the news organizations - they just mention them as a courtesy. I know operation ac has been on FR before. I just thought we could get them all in one place. Time is running short for getting things to the guys and gals oversees. Post Office told me Dec.3

I've heard this advertised on WMAL. A hearty tip 'o the cap for Michael and all the WMAL personnel for organizing this important event.

I would be delighted to do it, but as I am new here I am not sure what a ping list is yet, or how it works. Point me to instructions and I will do what I can but I know I will have to scream for help.

Two additional ideas:

1. I've been supporting this organization for years. Top notch. On the up & up: http://www.dav.org/

2. Take a few hours out of your life each week and volunteer at your local VA Hospital, if one is near you. If not, call the nearest one and ask them what they need and take or send them boxes of needed items from time to time. (Books, personal care items, etc.) Personal contact really, really helps these men. Some do feel used, tossed aside and unloved.

http://www1.va.gov/directory/guide/home.asp?isFlash=1

NOTE: Some of them are, unfortunately, 'round the bend, so let the professionals handle them. You'll come across men that as still so shell shocked they cry all day, or get kind of "grabby" around women, etc. It's not their fault. Some people who were drafted were not mentally equiped for what they were asked to endure.

*Getting Off My Soapbox Now* Sorry. As a Vet who's whole and healthy, I can't help the passion I feel for these men. We have left so many of them behind, and that's so not being a true fellow soldier!

you collect the "names" of folks that want to be reminded, like me etc.....and just start a new thread, once a month and in the "To:" put all of the names you want to remind and they'll see it when they come to FreeRepublic in their "ping" list on the top right hand side, in red :)

The fact that you care shows you have not left them behind.

btt - - donated - -

WMAL is my station of choice here in the DC area - - they're doing a wonderful thing. WMAL has certainly moved to the "right" since 9/11.

Lineup:

Andy Parks and Fred Grandy in the morning (yes, the Fred Grandy from Loveboat and the former rep from Iowa - he's a hoot)

Michael Graham

Paul Harvey

Rush Limbaugh

Sean Hannity

Chris Core (Chris has definitely moved to the right since 9/11)

John Bachelor

Coast to Coast (what can I say??)

Great listening all day, during the day....
