All over, education programs for top students are being cancelled so ESL students can be attended to. Every time I call a company or read directions, I have to ignore all of the Spanish gibberish. Even cable TV wastes channels (which I have to pay for if I get cable) on Spanish stations. My taxes subsidize "low income housing" as much housing in down towns is filled with large numbers of foreigners per apartment.
Want more?
As I recall, you are part of the amnesty cheer leading club.
Haven't they already been penalized by paying into Social Security, often under fake SSNs, with money that they will never be able to use? They will never be able to draw Social Security in spite of perhaps paying into the system for 20-30 years. That's a huge fine right off the bat.
They also have paid the unemployment tax and can never draw unemployment payments for any time they are out of work. That's another already paid-up fine.
You don't understand - something does happen when Bush and the Administration starts talking amnesty. The illegals really get desperate to get over the border before the window closes. We get swamped with illegals here in Cochise County, Arizona. The numbers go through the roof. This endangers the illegals, the BP Agents, the citizens, the desert (with all the trash and feces). Illegals pack themselves in vehicles, get in high speed chases, crash, etc. Human smugglers are more than happy to pack them into trucks, haul them to "safe" houses, hold dozens of them hostage in these houses, rape the women and girls, demand more money to free them, injure or kill some of them. We get overwhelmed and people DIE when Bush starts talking about amnesty.
The panty trees bloom in the desert when the numbers go up. What is a panty tree? It is a site in the desert where human smugglers get some of their "pay" for smuggling. You will usually find panties and many condoms near the area. Nice, huh? Want me to send you some photos?
The garbage and abandoned items at the human smuggling pickup points grows deeper. You see, the smugglers who pick up the aliens make them dump most of their belongings. It is really fun to see a child's backpack with a few meager toys and clothes dumped. You see a number of those. Who knows what "safe" house that young child has been sardined in with a bunch of criminal aliens without most of their clothes, their favorite blanket and their precious few toys. Or maybe they'll get caught in the cross fire as smugglers fight over the load. Or worse.
So, all this "talk" is not without consequence.
If that ain't an amnesty, I'd like to know what is!
I received the FAIR and the Numbers USA alerts. We knew Bush was going to do this.
There's been five or so just this afternoon.
Damn right.
What will happen if GWB's plan goes through? More and more illegals will pile into the country since in reality there is no negative side to this proposal for them. They've seen no real effort to throw any of them out. Wait long enough another "plea bargain" (amnesty) will come along.
At least Tancredo's plan makes them go to the back of the line if they want to do it legally.
Maybe I'm just weird, but I like to think it matters what I think.
If folks are told they'll have amnesty, all the more reason to set them straight.
And I think the carrot has to drop during or just before the stick.
"...and further imparted not just the "protections" of the 14th Amendment, but it provided to illegals the benefits of citizenship."
? Citizenship is not required for schooling, the non-citizen children of permanent or temporary legal residents are able to attend public school.
Where does it say that Bush will give amnesty to illegals?
Do they get citizenship status? Do they get the right to bring in their families? If not, then it's not an amnesty.
So you don't want Bush to say ANYTHING at all about immigration, is that right?
No, it's time to shoot down Bush's second trial baloon on this and work with Congress to ensure that NO amnesty plan - NONE - no form of amnesty passes Congress. And that our current laws get enforced.
Good luck.
This entire thread (I hope I'm on the right one, there are several going) is revolving around whether or not the Administration is proposing amnesty for illegals by way of this guest worker plan.
What you or I say constitutes amnesty is irrelevant, because we aren't the ones seeking it. The perception of emigres south of the border defines reality for them - and they appear to believe this plan will result in increased opportunity for them to survive at our expense. Well, they may not be thinking of it in those terms - at our expense - but it will be.
Quite simply I care far more for the wellbeing of my country and it's citizens and traditions than I do for any politician. Even GWB. And I am very happy that Kerry lost. You seem to equate any disagreement with Bush as being a raving Bush hater. That I am not. I have voted for every Republican presidential candidate since Nixon. I also remember Bush stating at a thousand dollar a plate fundraiser at Roger Hedgecocks that "we have to control our borders". How quick they forget.
what logic tells you and what law says are very different. If your italian cousin gives birth here, the baby is an US citizen and your cousin has the right to apply for permanent residence.
You have McCain? Geez, I thought I had it bad with Edwards! He doesn't even MEET with people unless it's a photo-op.
At least your guy gets IN the White House.......LOL.
