Only 14.7 Million americans voted for Kerry! (VANITY)

In light of John Kerry comments on John Ashcroft, we have to start a new meme that only 14.7 Million of the 120 Million voted for him. That's about a quarter of the electorate. Don't let the media get away with the lie that since 56 million people voted for him, he has to have a say in any policy matters.
By the way, this is how I get 14.7 Million.
From those (accurate) exit polls, 97% of Bush voters voted for Bush because they wanted to, leaving 3% who voted for Bush because they disliked Kerry. That's (60M * 0.03) 1.8 Million.
Also 77% of people voted for Kerry because they hated Bush, leaving us with 23% who actually voted for Kerry because they liked him. That's (56M * 0.23) = 12.9 Million.
That gives Kerry only 14.7M for Kerry!!
Spread it around. :-)

Do you realize what you are saying?
If a more likable candidate than Kerry was the Dem nominee, than Bush would have lost.

Strange logic you have there - Why would somebody who voted for Bush (because he did not like Kerry) count as having voted for Kerry?

Bush is solidly the President, but 56 million people DID select John Kerry on the ballot. Call facts "lies" does not strengthen our President's position. It makes his supporters look desperate.
Your passion is in the right place, but there are plenty of real lies to concentrate on. Keep facts facts and let's bust the Dems on the stream of real lies they put forth.

I like your reasoning. Too bad that you just killed any chance you may have had of becoming a member of the MSM. :-)

I think you are right on. The proof will be when Kerry tries to run again in '08....the Dems will not let it happen.
Why would they abandon a guy that recieved 48% of the vote? Because it wasn't about him, it was all about Bush.

If a more likable candidate than Kerry was the Dem nominee, than Bush would have lost. disagree. Bush didn't win because he is likeable. He won because he was the only serious candidate and ran on the only sound platform.
as the man pointed out, the majority of votes for Kerry were simply because they were a reaction against the media image of the President. Likeability had nothing whatsoever to do with the votes kerry got.

If a more likable candidate than Kerry was the Dem nominee, than Bush would have lost. Doubtful. Because their hatred for GWB was so visceral, the 'Rats would have voted for a goat if it was on the ticket.

No - Millions of Americans voted against Kerry because of his anti-American statements he made during the anti-war movement in the '60s and '70s.

The exit poll data that I saw showed 79% of Bush's votes were really votes FOR him and only 57% of Kerry's voters were actually FOR Kerry. That gives the following real vote FOR breakdown:
Bush: 47 million
Kerry: 32 million
I think these are more realistic numbers than yours.

Go to
CNN EXIT POLL DATA and scroll down until you get to the heading "Your vote for president was mostly...". According to this exit poll data 69% of all voters voted FOR a candidate as opposed to voting against the other candidate. If 116 million people voted in the election, then 80 million voted one way or the other because they were really voting FOR their candidate. Among those people who indicated they were really voting FOR their candidate, 59% of those 80 million voted for Bush, for a total of 47 million, while the other 40% said they voted for Kerry, or 32 million.
