Palm Springs alone has a syphilis rate of 81.8 per 100,000 people in 2003, twice the rate of the nation’s No. 1 city for syphilis, San Francisco.

Can somebody 'splain that to me?
How can S.F be #1, if P.S has twice the rate?

I disagree with the title. There is a simple explanation. Don't stick your d**k where it doesn't belong.

there is an extremely easy cure for syphillis -- unfortunately the left-wing radical pigs haven't the slightest idea what the meaning of the words:

MORALITY
HONOR
COMMITMENT

nor do they know the meaning of most of the words the majority of America lives by.

"The disease, health officials say, is being spread in the desert almost exclusively by gay men, many of whom are also HIV-positive.

Amazing how they like to hide this factoid about most of the inreases in syphilis.

Bisexual men could eventually spread the disease to others, including wives or girlfriends. "I wouldn’t want the heterosexual community to feel like they’re not at risk, because this is going to spread to other communities," said Robin Johnson, assistant director of social services for the Desert AIDS Project, the lead agency on desert syphilis.

Gee, well thanks! So nice of you to warn us instead of actually doing something to stop it in your own community.

Agreed. For the past few years, the gay community has reverted to bathhouse sex--only now, they have huge resorts in Palm Springs, Mexico and San Diego and on cruise ships where they do drugs and anonymous sex. There are some AIDS activists who have railed against it, but it is a very profitable business as despite talk of gay marriage, this is what most gay men like to do.

Let's see, the city council makes a decision to actively court the gay community and then this happens and they wonder why?

The disease, health officials say, is being spread in the desert almost exclusively by gay men, many of whom are also HIV-positive.

Amazing, isn't it? Liberals berate us for smoking or being overweight. They say we are cutting our lifespans short and straining the health-care system, and call for cigarettes to be outlawed and fast food to be taxed - and both are vilified. Yet they turn around and not only celebrate the gay lifestyle, but demand that it be deemed a civil right - even though a gay lifestyle takes a good 20 years off the average gay male lifespan.

Homosexual Agenda Ping - there's so much lode here it's hard to know what to respond to.

In fact, experts said local health departments and the Desert AIDS Project are doing virtually everything that can be done to stop the spread of syphilis: public education and testing.

Everything except telling the truth - that "gay" sex is inherently dangerous and health destroying, and that no one has to be "gay".

"There’s not," Do said, "a simple answer.

There is a very simple answer but Mr. D'oh doesn't want to hear it.

Another comment in the article was that it's not just a "gay" problem - that it will spread into other "communities" (I loathe that word when referring to groups by what their sexual practices are) by way of bisexuals. That's too rich. They tried to tell us that all of us normal people were going to get AIDS, too. It didn't happen.

Let me and Scripter know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

I am not being callous about this. I am very sorry about people, whoever they are, getting horrible diseases. But if they contract such diseases because they engage in deviant, unnatural and unhealthy sexual practices that they KNOW are risky, they not only bring it upon themselves, but knowlingly infect others.

All the while propagandizing to recruit new brethren (victims) and use OUR tax dollars for ineffectual and craven public health policies.

I'm not at risk.

Wait a minute, yes I am. I'm at risk of losing more tax dollars to find amoral "cures" and "prevention" for diseases that are perfectly curable and preventable.

Maybe if they shut down places like C.A.M.P. Palm Springs, a clothing-optional gay resort?!

We suggest that this sort of information be required to be taught in any school in which they tell young people that homosexuality is an "alternate life style" not to be regarded as wrong.

The question is why? There are many theories, but no definitive answers.

One of the most common is that gay men have begun engaging in risky sexual behavior because they’ve grown tired of the safe sex message, or are no longer concerned about AIDS.

Duh! Ya' think!!!!

Here's another theory: The Syphilis Fairy is a homophobe making her rounds disproportionately among innocent gay men -- all at John Ashkroft's command, of course. I mean, the whole thought that an STD could be spread by promiscuous and unprotected sex is just too outlandish to believe!!!!!
