That is literally every mosque in the country! The map we tracked the attacks we faced showed 98% of the activity occurred within 2 football fields of mosques.

Fallujah has more mosques per square mile than any other city in Iraq. So many in fact, its often referred to as "The City Of Mosques."

IMHO, they are in other parts of Iraq, stirring up trouble.

From Wikipedia

Fallujah (Arabic: ÝáæÌÉ; sometimes transliterated as Falluja and less commonly Fallouja or Falloujah) is a city of about 350,000 inhabitants in the Iraqi province of Al Anbar, located roughly 69km (43 miles) west of Baghdad on the Euphrates. Within Iraq, it is known as the "city of mosques" for the more than 200 mosques found in the city and surrounding villages. It is one of the most important places to Sunni Islam in the region.

They were threatened if they did not stay in the city and fight...

Just announced finding "hostage slaughter houses" on Fox..whatever that means..It sounds terrible.

That does sound awful. We just switched in CNN International to see what's going on over there. We can see the light on the western sky again and we've heard these surreal, distant "pop" sounds from over there for the last two days. It's actually quiet now.

Clashes erupt in Mosul

Wed 10 November, 2004 15:32

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Gunfire and explosions have echoed across the volatile northern Iraqi city Mosul, witnesses say, and authorities imposed a curfew and closed bridges in a bid to prevent violence spreading. "The Mosul governor has invoked immediate curfew and all bridges are closed," U.S. Lieutenant Colonel Paul Hastings said in a statement on Wednesday. "The current situation is developing," he added, without elaborating.

Gunmen attacked a convoy of civilian four-wheel-drive vehicles of the kind used by foreign security contractors, witnesses said.

After coming under fire, the three-car convoy went to a nearby police station, where a gunbattle ensued between insurgents who surrounded the building and Iraqi and U.S. forces, witnesses said. There was no immediate comment from police or the U.S. military.

Gunmen also attacked at least one other police station in Mosul, 240 miles north of the capital, and fighting spread across much of the city.

A Reuters reporter said residents stayed inside as small-arms fire rattled and blasts from rocket-propelled grenades shook the city. U.S. helicopters flew overhead.

There was no immediate word on casualties and it was difficult to access areas where fighting was raging for more details.

Iraq's third largest city has seen frequent outbreaks of violence in recent months, including roadside blasts, car bombs and drive-by shootings targeting U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces.

As U.S. forces push on with their offensive against the rebel city of Falluja, west of Baghdad, there has been a spike in violence around the country, including attacks in Samarra, Ramadi, Baiji, Baghdad, Baquba and Kerbala.
