Definitely NOT the UP -- I was born there! It can become part of Wisconsin. BTW do you know what is with the stretch of blue counties on Lake Superior? Isn't that mining territory?

Only one of the mining counties actually went to Kerry. Gogebic county(Ironwood).
The other two were Alger(Bush won in 2000 with 49%) and the democrat stronghold of Marquette where Bush held Kerry to 53%(Granholm got 58%). Unions dominate there, as well as Northern Michigan University.
