Arizona Politicians Welcome Bush's Immigration "Reform" Support
The Business Journal--Phoenix ^ | Nov 9, 2004 | Mike Sunnucks

Those in Arizona business and politics who support the creation of a federal guest worker program for Mexicans and other immigrants wishing to work the United States are welcoming a renewed push on that issue planned for next year by the Bush administration.

Blah blah blah......

Bush had proposed a temporary worker program last year, including a path for legal status for undocumented workers already working in the United States. However, progress on that stalled with election year politics delaying and complicating the matter.

The Flake/Kolbe/McCain plan also provides a path for undocumented workers already in the United States to obtain legal status.

HEY! Why isn't this on Drudge and other "conservative" web sites?

Where's the rah rah crowd now? Elections are over, reality hits. Hmm.. What immigration reform group endorsed Bush? They must be.. LIBERALS for not agreeing with Him! I saw a report this morning indicating Bush planned to legalize illegals WHO HAVE A JOB!!! This is your "conservative" President. Do you have the courage to stand against this? Now is the time to hold his feet to the fire (haha), if it makes a difference, and you know it doesn't. We are screwed. As a Californian, an exteremely bitter one, all I can hope for now is that all of the "red state" people experience this wonderful diversity the way we conservative (ahem, TRADITIONAL conservative) Californians have. You get exactly what you vote for. Enjoy it for length of the football game or the NasCar race. Rah rah. Arafat is croking and you get to bomb more Iraquis, but America is dying. Enjoy the fruits of the empire while it lasts.

Mad, yes I am. Bush SUCKS on immigration, an issue more important than any other for the future of this nation. Camel jockeys can't take over the country, but Mexicans are. Enjoy your cheap labor and yard boys while it lasts, establishment neo-con republicans. My most fervent hope is that you reap the consequences of your failure to control your own party. NEVER again will IO vote for a republican unless his issue is stopping this invasion!

Most people do not seem to care. Many of the so called'Hispanic Leadership' are openly stating they are taking over.

"This is your "conservative" President."

I didn't help put him in the White House this time around.

"Bush SUCKS on immigration"

Just wait...renewed AWB, Arlen Specter, moderate to liberal appointees to the Courts. Those that voted for this "conservative" President are in for a very rude awakening. Hope they enjoyed the party punch.

This is the one issue that the GOP leadership gets wrong, wrong, wrong. The only thing that will change this is extremely strong grass roots activism. The President's position on this issue has the potential to turn off a lot of the base.

Immigration (or better, demograhics) is the most important issue of 21st century America. Most Americans are ignoring the signs on the wall until, well, until it's too late.

Some legacy Ameicans are leaving their progeny.

Next time Bush runs?

His position was stated months ago. It apparently didn't turn off the base.

I personally disagree with the president on immigration. However, Kerry's stand was much worse - open borders and full amnesty for all.

Contrary to the Bush bashers on this thread, progress is being made on deportation - small progress, but it has to start somewhere. We need to tighten both borders IMO, and stop just sending the offenders home. Start opening some camps if you ask me, as well as going after the employers who hire illegals. Dry up the demand, and the problem will slow. Take away all incentive to cross illegally - that makes the most sense. (No benefits for illegals - health care, schooling, etc.)

Much of the border is in the pathetic condition shown in the photo of Arizona shown above.

Parts of San Diego County has a "real" barrier as part of "Project Gatekeeper" below...

However, once you get into the high desert area, it ends and that's where they cross and the "coyote" smugglers leave their migrants to die. We've got water stations, in part thanks to Congressman Duncan Hunter's brother, we pay for billboards and signs in Mexico but the "Latino community" still blames us for these deaths which happen each year to do exposure either freezing to death or dehydrating in the heat.

And they still keep coming. Here are some examples of drug-running tunnels located during Bush's first term... Look at the sophistication in the BBC's diagram.

I live in Arizona, right on the border, and I live with the massive border intruder problem every day. I was extremely unhappy with Bush's amnesty proposal and even protest him and my local RINO (Jim Kolbe who was basically the author of the amnesty proposal) back in February.

But...

Bush was WAY better for the country than Kerry. There was just no comparison. Bush is mostly for what I'm for with a few exceptions. Now that the election is over I'm going to go back to work to deal with those exceptions. If it means another protest against Bush's and Kolbe's amnesty plan, then I can't wait.

It seems to me that this plan realistically confronts the need to identify the ten million illegals already here and gives a way to process them without going through all of the legal hassle of exportation hearings that don't really make people leave. Also, it makes them pay taxes. Those who want to take a pure hard line don't seem to have considered the logistics of what they propose.

Get this:

"The Mexican government has also released statements expressing its rejection of certain propositions passed in certain border states."

http://www.kfoxtv.com/news/3902314/detail.html

Since when did the corrupt Mexican government get the power to reject what the American voters decided on? This is getting way beyond absurd --- that clown Vicente Fox has become extremely aggressive.

Yup, here in Vegas the INS is expeditiously deporting Asian students who would bring skills and money into the United States while, at the same time, the INS is turning a blind eye to the Mexicans. It is racism pure and simple. It is the same racism the pervades the current Whitehouse doctrine that Arab states deserve freedom and democracy while Taiwan's call for independence and freedom is dangerous and should be suppressed.

All this will do is to encourage more illegal aliens to jump line in front of other folks who want to enter this country legally.

We need to get control of the border. Period.

Put employers of illegals in jail and cut off all social services and they will have to leave on their own.

If they stay, they die.

I don't care which they chose!

There was an AP article today titled "Powell Tackles Illegal Immigrant Issue" basically saying the same thing, find a way to legalize the illegals. I don't see how this is better than Kerry. The Bush criteria is you gotta have a job. These things can be faked. Can they possibly check millions of applicants as to whether they have a real job.

Bush is a "compassionate conservative", doublespeak for a socialist or Liberal, depending on your preference. The elites (e.g., CFR, Bilderbergers or whatever name they go by) control both the Democrats and the Republics and the media. According to the talking heads, you must either vote for Bush or Kerry because if you vote for Nader (Perouka), you vote for Bush (Kerry). The bottom line is you get an amnesty program unless you vote outside the Republocrat one-party system.

Don't be mad .... take a deep breath.

Lamar Smith is key committee leader in the House. They will not have an open-ended plan. And if you *are* concerned go call up your Congresscritter.

Go to FAIR and read the accounts of the elections. Opponents of open borders scored big wins, in both the House and the Senate. politicians like Dreier were chastened. Arizona's PAN initiative passed.

"I saw a report this morning indicating Bush planned to legalize illegals WHO HAVE A JOB!!"

The report is nonsense... Bush has proposals on this which are dead-on-arrival in Congress.
