They said Ashcrofts's resignation letter was dated Nov. 2nd. There had been reports that the strain of the job had affected his health.
Personally I was kinda surprised about Evans though. Guess he wanted to get back to Midland and the sanity of that town.

No surprise to me on Ashcroft. I expected it. I thought that his health concerns were more well known. At least two months ago I recall reports on his failing health had made him pretty well decide in advance of the election that he would step down after Bush wins.
I have not seen any reports identifying the specific health concern. The burden of any of the cabinet offices would wear on any of us. I am grateful for his service to our country.

Personally I was kinda surprised about Evans though.Maybe he's gonna go back to start fundraising and getting ideas for the George W. Bush Presidential Library. Somehow I don't think they'll have as much trouble getting a location as x42 did.
