This is freshly breaking speculation/news in Utah. Apparently Hatch is being considered for the AG slot replacing Ashcroft. Former Utah governor (and current head of the EPA) Mike Leavitt would be the odds-on favorite to replace Hatch in the Senate. If true, it might have an impact on the Specter/Judiciary Committee controversy.

He's not a lawyer or a prosecutor. Judiciary is not enough qualification. Besides, he sponsored the Dream Act with fat Ted my senator. Put somebody who will enforce the laws at Justice.

I saw Sen. Hatch being interviewed on CNN two weeks ago. He was actually wearing a turtleneck with a huge Cricket Phone logo on the collar, as if it was part of an endorsement deal. Did anyone else catch that?
To: JCEccles
No! He hasn't been effective on the Judiciary Committee, so why would he be effective as AG?

Orrin Hatch is a wuss...has a whiney (sp?)way of speaking, and talks a better game than he plays.
I can't believe he is being considered.
This was just some nefarious plot to make me have an upset stomach and migraine headache.
To: JCEccles
Not only is Hatch not the man for the job, he is damaged goods so far as any position of power because of his tainted FBI files.
What's in them, who knows, but he surely went meekly after the Clintons went to work on the knowledge that they were combing them for dirt.

Would you like to see Orrin Hatch replace John Ashcroft as U.S. Attorney General? Hell no.

My first instinct say NO but then I thought, we can replace him with a real conservative in the Senate. Interesting.
