Hispanic Community Leader Utters Slur on News Radio 620 WTMJ
News Radio 620 WTMJ | 11/9/04 | Victor Huyke

Posted on 11/09/2004 8:48:38 AM PST by BigJohn44

On 11/9/04, Victor Huyke, editor of El Conquistador Latino News, a Hispanic newspaper located in Milwaukee, called the Charlie Sykes show to further pile on criticism of Milwaukee talk show host Mark Belling.

In the course of his criticism of Belling, Mr. Huyke, who is leading the charge to have Belling fired, off-handedly remarked that the Milwaukee Latino community was not going to allow itself to be treated like a "retarded stepchild who sits in the corner."

Sykes immediately called Huyke on this, pointing out that many people are offended by the use of the term "retarded." Huyke did apologize.

Meanwhile, Belling is currently suspended from doing his popular afternoon talk show on NewsTalk 1130 WISN, for referring to illegal Hispanic voters as "wetbacks." Belling has also apologized for this.

Here we have another example of the hypocrisy of the left.

Belling calls illegal voters "wetbacks" and apologizes. The Latino community says FIRE HIM.

One of Belling's leading Hispanic critics, Victor Huyke, uses the word "retard" on the radio. The Latino community's response is . . . stay tuned.

Don't hold your breath that lefties and Latinos will demand that Huyke be fired.

I use the term "retarded". It's an accurate term for some disabilities. I'm not PC unless I have to be.

Now "retarded" is a forbidden word?

What's next? Calling someone "slow" or "demented"?

With the expansion of "hate crimes" law, we're all going to end up in court or in jail before long.

Yes the official diagnosis is "Mental Retardation" but for some reason many in that field find it offensive. PC run amok again.

retard or retarded is a perfectly good and useful word, as in, "being under the scrutiny of the PC Police has retarded my efforts in communicating."

Yes, don't use the word "retarded." They like to be called "Democrats."

Don’t fall for this liberal trap. The democrats are losing the Hispanics, and will do anything to stop it. Using the slur “wetback” does not help the conservative movement and the Democrats will run with it if you let them. They did it to Gov. Wilson of California in the 90’s, and the conservative in California are still trying to repair the damage.

This is not the image of the Republican Party, and we should not defend it. Protecting our borders is a good thing, calling our Hispanic neighbors “wetbacks” is BULLS#IT!

Wetback is such a mild term. I myself don't use. I feel terms such as perverts or criminals better describe Illegal aliens. And they are all criminals and a danger to this country.

The only ones who would defend illegal aliens are those who are bribed or blackmailed, hate this country, or suffer from delusions.

He didn't call 'our hispanic neighbors' wetbacks. He used the term only to refer to illegal immigrants who were going to vote in the presidential election illegally. He also apolgized about 30 times.

However, the libs have wanted belling gone for years now, since he's such an effective voice against them. So the local 'minority leaders' joined together with some unions. Even someone from a local (publicly funded) tech college got in on the act...and oddly enough, belling has been blasting the tech college recently for teachers attending kerry rallies when they should have been teaching.

Don't forget about the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, who, after close to 10 years, is still sore that Belling forced them to keep the "Sentinel" portion of the name when the afternoon Journal killed the morning Sentinel by breaking the story. Without them keeping up the drumbeat every day, the "righteous" anger would never have come close to critical mass.

Its not an accurate term for 99% of the way its used. Thats the point. Hence, it does no good to consider/treat/label those that live with difficulties in this low-class way. Its says more about the person using the word than anything.
