"Women who take birth control pills have a lack of values?"

Obviously, from the pharmacists point of view. And that POV is important in that he's the one with the pills.

So you agree that she has the right to impose her values, but not him?

My OB/GYN REFUSES to do abortions. Should he find another line of work because patients might want/demand a service he does not provide?

You miss the point. I can not believe the number of people here that support the position of the pharmist. Unbelieveable.

Doctors job is to kill unborn babies, not to moralize or judge.

If a doctor took a job at an abortion clinic and then claimed that his morals prevented him from doing abortions, the clinic would be well within its rights to fire him.

I can join you in hoping that he checked that out first!

Her sex life is no business of his. No, he shouldn't be asking why she had a script for the pills. Do you really support that much a big brother society? That's sad.

Actually, I have trouble imagining that a pharmacist would have the guts to refuse to return a prescription he refused to fill.

I have no trouble imagining myself leaping over the counter and socking him in the jaw had it been me.

"Their job is not to regulate what people take or do. It's just to fill the prescription that was ordered by my physician."

Bingo. Maybe she's more cut out for a job at the local Christian book store.

A better analogy would be a pro-life doctor on staff at a pro-choice hospital. Should he be required to perform abortions?

If part of his job description was doing abortions? Sure.

The issue is not whether or not women have a right to take BCP's in America. They do and always will. The issue is whether people of conscience have a right to freely exercise their religious views not to aid and abet what they see as the killing of innocent human life. Two different issues.

Exactly (although I don't agree with the pharmacist's refusing to return the script to the customer, if that's what happened).

I guess if she is using BCP's to control cramping and whatnot, she's SOL. It has been decided that she is no good slut. The Morality Police have spoken!

What right did he have to keep the prescription?

NOBODY can be forced to do anything that is immoral to them. To claim otherwise is to admit to being an elitest that claims to know more than a "lowly moral person".

Certainly. However, no employer can be forced to keep paying an employee who refuses to fulfill the requirements of his job.

"that every woman who takes birth control pills is taking them just so she can go f*#@ the football team"

Every? No. 99.999%, yes.

Unless you have figures that dispute this.

I have a serious question for you........do you feel government has a right to take my money and give it to groups like Planned Parenthood?....or as poster teacher317 mentioned in his/ her post, to fund things that we find repugnant, such as a cross sitting in a jar of urine?

What documentation have you for your 99.999% claim?

Are you some sort of pervert that actually asks why women take BCP's? Or do you think it is your business somehow?

No. You have to back up your statement. Please do.

If they stop you, it was never your property to being with. See my tagline.

You're right; ownership has never been all that absolute. Nowadays, they tend to describe ownership as a bundle of rights that a person has with respect to property. They want you to picture a little bundle of sticks, each one representing a right to do something with regard to the property. Here and there, the government comes along and takes a stick out or puts another one in - more taking out than putting back in lately, I'm afraid. ;-)

CVS has the right to impose its values on him as a condition of employment. And she has the right to assert her property rights against his theft.

Bad analogy. Abortion clinics are in business to kill unborn babies, pharmacies are in business to heal the sick. Two different missions, no?

Aside from taht you are factaully wrong. Congress has already passed laws protecting health care workers from involuntary participation in the taking of innocent human life. MAny of the states have already and more are in the process of doing so.

Do we have any evidence of what the pharmacist's job description was? Was it really so detailed as to require the dispensing of birth control and abortificants?

And I'm not aware of any doctor whose job description requires him or her to perform abortions. Maybe the butchers at the abortion mills have such a job description. As an attorney I've advised doctors before that they have no legal or moral duty to perform abortions.

"That she should be allowed, legally, to force him to perform an act which he considers immoral and against his code of ethics (Hippocratic Oath)?

Freedom is kind of a one-way street with you, isn't it?"

His freedom lies not in his right to force his moral views on his company's customers, but in his right to quit and get another job where his values will not be compromised. Remember, logic is our friend.
