thanks for the post. this event occurred during the middle of the great depression. antisemitism was high in america at that time, esp in the democratic party. fdr did not want to open immigration because jobs were lacking, but i also suspect that the antisemitism in the democratic party had something to do with this as well.

while the lack of attention by the united states is the focal target of this article, one must remember that europe did almost nothing about this tragedy. antisemitism, again probably brought about because of the great depression, was very high in france and eastern europe. germany was the culprit, but there were many enablers in europe.

terror must be fought.

You're right. In every Western country - and it was even worse in Russia and Eastern Europe - nothing was done to fight antisemitism and defeat those who built their power on this hateful base.
