Dutch authorities have destroyed a piece of public art meant to memorialize slain filmmaker Theo van Gogh because it included the phrase "Thou shalt not kill."
According to Radio Netherlands, the Volkskrant newspaper reported a Dutch artist in Rotterdam wanted to express his emotions over the murder of van Gogh, who was allegedly killed by a Muslim extremist last week due to his criticism of Islam.
The artist's painting on a wall in his neighborhood included an ascending angel with the date and the familiar commandment from the Old Testament inscribed. Authorities were not impressed.
"In the year 2004, this commandment is considered too sensitive in our multicultural society," wrote the Volkskrant.
Officials ordered the immediate removal of the artwork from the public space, Radio Netherlands reported.
According to the newspaper, when a local television team showed up, the police ordered the crew to stop filming the painting and hand over the film. A reporter who tried to stop the destruction of the painting was jailed for three hours.
One city lawmaker quoted in the paper described the incident as "a fantastic example of the madness in which we live."
I feel like I'm reading a science fiction novel. This is unbelievable.
Wow. Totalitarian state so soon. That happened quickly.
Look how far Europe has descended! Scary stuff.
My sentiment exactly.
Huh?
We want to avoid offending the moozelims that committed the murder; otherwise, they might get upset and murder some more. (Cringe, fawn, grovel, whine...)
You expect anything else from Euro-peons?
There is no logic in this -- not even twisted Dem/Lib/Red logic. The only reason there could be for this is to take down any idea remotely connected with the God of Israel and Christianity.
You reap what you sow.
'Thou shalt not kill'
No wonder they didn't like it! Goes against everything in the Koran.
Breathtaking. Simply breathtaking.
Suggest swift Dutch justice for the Islamic murdererers: Firstly, No cheese for 3 months. Then, at the end of the 3 months, a free bicycle for each one involved, to show social solidarity and encourage social rehabilitation.
If they do it again, deport them to Belgium.
"We want to avoid offending the moozelims that committed the murder; otherwise, they might get upset and murder some more. (Cringe, fawn, grovel, whine...)"
Which, of course, is exactly what the Islamists are going to do in Holland, they will continue to murder, as it is in too many of their natures. It will take a few more incidents before the people of Holland will turn on their government's policies, and believe me, that point will come. Then we will see how these liberal fools and their socialism deal with their political correctness, especially when that PC attitude will be what does them in. Some people have a long learning curve, and the Dutch fall into that category.
Europe is lost to us. The 'Rats are studying how their friends won in Europe and how best to repeat that victory here in the USA.
There's no reason for us to believe mystically that we're so superior that "it can't happen here." The 'Rats are working on this 24/7 to make sure it happens here eventually. The joke will be on them at that point . . . for what it's worth . . .
"Thou shalt not kill" offends the delicate sensibilities of those who ambush a guy, slit his throat, stab him in the chest with a knife that has note containing a death threat against their next victim. A civilized society can't allow that (offending the murderers, that is). Political correctness is making people embrace savagery. Hitler would be so proud...
It's "Thou shalt not murder", not kill. In a just war, for instance, it's not murder.
Or Self-Defence..
Muslim and/or atheist infiltration in many local governments in The Nederlands is resulting in the demise of everthing "Dutch", including freedom to worship and free speech.
Progress or regress? The Nederlands are leading the march back to the dark ages.
A sterling example of why The Netherlands and Belgium are called "The Low Countries".
