Democratic Party must be 'born again,' Carville says
Washington Times ^ | 11/09/04 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 11/08/2004 11:04:44 PM PST by kattracks

Democratic strategist James Carville said yesterday that the Democratic Party's losses last Tuesday were no fluke, and that they need to rethink exactly who they are and provide something more than a litany of policy proposals.
"The underlying problem here is, there is no call to arms that the Democratic Party is making to the country," said Mr. Carville, the architect of Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign win. "We've got to reassess ourselves. We've got to be born again."

Democrats are debating what went right and what went wrong in last Tuesday's election, in which President Bush won re-election over Sen. John Kerry, and Democrats also lost seats in both the House and Senate. Some have said there is no need for soul-searching, and blamed the losses on a difficult election-year map or a poor candidate at the top of the ticket.
During the Democratic National Convention this summer in Boston, when Mr. Bush trailed in the polls, Mr. Carville said, "It would be the greatest political achievement of my lifetime" if he came back to beat Mr. Kerry.
But yesterday, Mr. Carville said not only was it a great comeback, but coupled with the 2002 congressional-election losses, it shows it's time for Democrats to engage in a major re-examination.

Americans with moral fiber have finally been so shook, so repulsed, so dejected, and so spat upon that they are just now finally realizing that unless they collectively join in unison of numbers at the polls that all they love dearly is very likely to be ripped from their grasp by their own inaction.

You saw it happen on November 2nd, and I dare say that won't be the last time you'll see the righteous indignation against the morally corrupt Democrat Party in the years ahead.

It's a good thing. Thank you Faggachusettes Supreme Court. Thank you John Kerry, George Soros, Hollywood and Ted Kennedy.

Ok, now that I have quit laughing at the headline, I have a question.

How can you be "born again" when you don't believe in GOD?

And it will continue to have. But when one of those parties looses direction, the electorate tells them so. Then, if they have a brain, they will discover where they went wrong, rebuild themselves, and if they do it right, the electorate will let them know.

Canada is a classic example. One of their 2 main electable parties went off course. they were soundly defeated.
They had to rebuild, and they have. They almost came back and won, if they would have had a little more time, they would have won. Unfortunately, the unpopular liberal party saw the momentum the new, rebuilt party was gaining, and called an early election to retain power. the Liberals won with only 37% of the popular vote.
Next time, (and it could happen any time because of the minority situation the Liberals are in) they will win over the Liberals.
Despite what biased Canadian lefty press says, Canada is not a leftwards country anymore. How can it be when the left only has 37% support?
As we see in the USA, when democrats have power, they try redraw districts in order to win elections.
In Canada, the liberals do the same thing. they stack the senate, (which is appointed, not elected), plus they have disproportionate representation between provinces, which the liberals will not correct, because it's not to their advantage.
You can be sure, that when conservatives regain power in Canada, proportional representation will be implemented, so elections are more fair, like the USA. The senate reforms will be done, so they will be elected, not selected.
Then the people will never again be stuck with a dictatorship liberal government, which seems to be the only way they can stay in power.

America should be thankful the founding fathers took it upon themselves to insure the USA would have true democratic elections. Be thankful. I know I sure am. (democrats sure hate fair elections though) I'm a dual citizen, but I live the better part of each year in the USA. It's just a better place to be. Taxes over all, are cheaper, and despite the whining of the democrats, even the social fabric of the nation is better. has anyone driven on a Canadian road lately? Can you spell new front end every 6 months?

Did you hear that Howard Dean is running for the DNC chair? LoL!
the Democrats are doing everything they can NOT to get elected, LOL!
Looks like they are going to stay far left. I wonder if Hillary is going to stay there, or try a coup.

"The underlying problem here is, there is no call to arms that the Democratic Party is making to the country,"

Well, for the short term, that's a perfect bullseye - 9/11 was the call to arms and the Democrats missed it. For the long term, however, I don't see a cure to its core nihilist and Euro-socialist philosophies.

They will have their time to show how "wonderful" things are when they are in control. This will happen only after all the Christians are raptured, and then all h*ll will break lose on the whole earth. History will prove how wretched and destructive they are as Christ comes back just in time to save the whole earth from being utterly destroyed.

"We've got to reassess ourselves. We've got to be born again."

Time to resurrect Jimma, "I is born again and only lust in my heart", Carter to be the standard bearer.

The historic view of the Christian church is that Christ comes back once, and does not have two "second comings. The "rapture" theory is only about a hundred years old, coming in with Dispensationalism, which was partly a reaction to Evolutionary theory of the 1880s. Usher's claiming the earth start date was 4004BC, placing it in the Bible as if it were actual fact, then theologians going with that making dispensations, caused a faulty way of interpreting clear texts of Scripture. Having Jesus come twice seemed to help their math, trying to figure out the 'when.' So they thought.

Instead, He is coming one more time to judge the entire earth. Only those who believe at His Coming will be spared eternal separation from Him. And we should be ready. Repent, and Believe in His love and forgiveness for you!
