N.M. Voters Red With Embarrassment Over Delayed Count (W losing votes this a.m.)
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | November 8, 2004 | Leann Holt

Posted on 11/08/2004 9:07:01 AM PST by CedarDave

If New Mexico is leaning red, it's not because the state is any closer to declaring a presidential winner. It's because some New Mexicans are embarrassed about how long it's taking to get the votes counted. Again.

"It's embarrassing to know this state has not been able to count all it's votes," said Tom Torres of Edgewood. "It's not like this is a surprise. We saw it last election."

In the 2000 election, it took about a month for the state to determine that Al Gore had defeated President George W. Bush by 366 votes.

Election officials said they are working to count all ballots by Friday... In Bernalillo County, the actual counting of more than 13,000 provisional and in-lieu-of ballots might not start until Tuesday, election officials said.

-snip-

Since Saturday, 50 temporary county employees have been separating provisional ballots into three piles: questionable, eligible and ineligible. Questionable ballots will be examined today after the Secretary of State's Office clarifies the election code, Bernalillo County Clerk Mary Herrera said Sunday.

"It is taking about eight hours to get through 100 precincts," said Jeff Carbajal, Bureau of Elections coordinator. "The workers realize the importance of getting it done properly."

-snip- On Friday, The Associated Press reported President Bush with an 8,588 vote lead over Kerry with more than 17,000 provisional ballots yet to be counted in the state.

Although the AP has declared Bush the winner in New Mexico, John Wertheim, state Democratic chairman, said it is still possible that Kerry could win here. "It is important that every vote be counted," said Wertheim, who was observing county workers Sunday. "It is mandated by state and federal law. It's not in anyone's power to stop this process."

Fridays count had President Bush ahead by 8,588 votes, which is where it stayed over the weekend. This morning the lead, at the time of this posting, was 8,220 votes, a decrease of 368 votes. The ABQJournal/AP web site is here . Do not use the official SOS website -- those numbers fluctuate and the total number of votes counted is less than the AP total.

The big question is, where are these votes coming from?

Bill Richardson's @ss.

The funny thing is these clowns are committing election fraud even when it no longer matters.

Cub reporter Leann should be embarrassed.

How is it that the A/P's information is more current than the SOS web site. Where do they get their numbers from for them to be more current?

Then there's those two missing precincts that have gone unreported for almost a week, one apparently from the Navajo Indian Reservation (Cibola County) and the other from Bernalillo County (Albuquerque). Opportunity for more mischief??
(If you think not, I've got a bridge you might want to buy)

I think Governor Richardson is picking them up around the country from his Clinton buddies and dumping them in the ballot box.

We haven't won until the Electoral College votes in December. Ohio hasn't even counted their PVs yet.

Vigilance remains wiser than celebration.

These hacks are so obsessive, that even knowing these EV's won't make a real difference they want to put a blue "island" in the Red Sea of states to make a point...

Once again an effort by the desperate left to make Bush lose the election. I am sure they are manufacturing Kerry votes left and right. How sad!
