World population 'to level off at 9b in 2300'
AP ^ | 11.05.04

Three hundred years from now, the world's population will have stabilized at about 9 billion and we will look forward to living until age 95. In Japan, that bastion of longevity, people will be hanging around until they're 106. India, China and the United States will still be the most populous countries on the planet -- if they still exist -- and Africa's share of the world's population will double to 25 percent. The average woman will give birth to two children. Those are just a few possibilities projected in a U.N. report released Thursday, which lowers long-term population estimates because of new thinking about fertility rates in the future. The new report acknowledges that population projections are extremely iffy. "What will population trends be like beyond 2050? No one really knows," the report says. "Any demographic projections, if they go 100, 200 or 300 years into the future, are little more than guesses."

And a new company will produce a big-selling product called "Soylent Green"...

And this "projection" doesn't qualify as a guess?

Boy that makes me feel real good. The subway won't continue to overcrowd even more in just 296 years. Wow! I can hardly wait. Commuting will be fun once again.

actually, if they're saying it is going to level off, then it means many nations are going to industrialize successfully. a majority of the total land masses.

The sheer arrogance of man shows it's ugly face again. Next they will talk about the solution to the "future" problem. More abortions. and the death of "the not worthy of life" crowd. This needs to be nipped in the bud now.

If we don't get the *Muslim problem* under strict and permanent control, there won't be a 2300 AD for us infidels.

Nahhh.

I don't buy it.

I figure Africa will have a population of about ZERO due to AIDS and famine and war.

India is being devestated by AIDS as well.

So is a lot of SE Asia.

9 billion is quite supportable by this planet even today... characterising overpopulation as a "problem" is yet another attempt by the socialists to gain control (e.g. - only the wise socialist planners will be able to cope with the overpopulation by, you guessed it, being given the power to allocate resources)

of course, the overpopulation problem paul weyrich, the club of rome and others shrilled about seems quaint and quite incorrect today.

the socialists are off on another tangent -- the kyoto/greenhouse "problem", which is yet another attempt by the socialists to gain control (e.g. - only the wise socialist planners will be able to cope with the greenhouse "problem" by, you guessed it, being given the power to allocate resources)

Of course, just 20 years ago, they were saying 15M by 2050. SO you know how well you can believe this crap.

Bad news: There will only be 9 Billion people on the Earth, but environmental regulations mean they will all have to take the subway.

The percentage of aids afflicted to the total population is incredibly high in Africa. However, in India and SE Asia, the percentage is only slightly more than in the US and Western Europe.
