World Moral Clarity Coming into Focus

In the US's re-election of GWB and its reaffirmation of moral values, I would like to point the reader to the following web site.

In these trying times of uncertainty and unrest, I am hopeful that people of all nationalities and religious faiths can agree on the following fundamental insights.

Perhaps these ideas can serve as a universal foundation to building a just, peaceful, free, and moral future that is inclusionary to all.

I find myself in large agreement with you. I fear that many would nitpick with some of the inclusive phraseology and fear that there is some "new age" thinking that slipped in a few places.

I came back to a spiritual belief--still not very church-going--after 20 years of darkness with a "new age" study group based on A Course in Miracles. It's a Christ-based spiritual study that does not replace anyone's religion. For me, it provides a rock-solid faith that a loving God is in firm control, that Christ is my savior and brother, and that he sent the Holy Spirit as my inner counselor, comforter, and guide.

From there, I'm in deep agreement with my Catholic family, my Baptist in-laws, and my many new-age friends. If we could only identify our broad, broad areas of agreement here at home and around the World, then killing in the name of God would be exposed for what it is--ego, power-lust, and ignorance.

I once spoke to a man, who had gone through some marriage trouble and who had spoken to a priest about it.

This man told me that the priest had said to him that "the devil comes at you in many formats" and that this man took this to equate this to the temptation [to stray from the sacrament of marriage] in the form of a beautiful women.

I later thought back to this "chance" discussion and later concluded that if, in fact, "Satan" comes at in you many different formats, so must God.

At that moment, I had an epiphany of sorts - that despite my personal religious teachings/faith [really a product of man's interpretation (divine) of the Almighty) that all living things must find their own unique and individual pathway to "righteousness" or the "Almighty."

In effect, that ALL PATHWAYS ULTIMATELY LEAD TO GOD. That ALL FAITHS ULTIMATELY LEAD TO GOD. And, as such, have a place in the universe.

I believe this fundamentally now. As such, I now believe, that HELL is not neccessarily a destination BUT A JOURNEY to ultimate redemption (aka HEAVEN)...And that pathway is one chosen of FREEWILL. Our innate ability to make value judgments of which there are consequences, intended and unintended.

If "GOOD" ultimately triumphs over "EVIL", I believe that this line of thinking follows.

I also believe, in my heart, that it may very well be that Satan and all of his followers will ultimately be redeemed [in the End?] and with that perspective has continued to act as a Servant to the Almighty God by providing a pathway to HIM that was ABSENT HIM.

As we celebrate the diversity of mankind, so should we celebrate the diversity of our collective faiths that uniquely acknowledge our Creator.

This should be a UNITING FORCE and NOT A DIVIDING ONE.

It's right there. All we need to do is open our collective eyes.

To love our fellow man and creatures (all life) is to love GOD.

Isn't this simple enough?

One other thought. I do not believe this is syncretism. In fact, I believe it is the direct opposite - it reflects the ultimate in religious tolerance [of differences] and not the quelling/blending of them.

I have a very deep problem with moral values that advocate as much violence and killing as we see in the world today. Surely God would be more diplomatic and more wise than this to solve the problems we now imagine.

Perhaps it would help to think of the tangible universe as merely the stage on which God's Play is acted. It is the universe beyond which is our true destiny. We come here to learn and love. It is our childhood.

The universe is interconnected. All of the pieces of the divine jigsaw puzzle are falling into place. The continued way forward is with prayer, vigilance and right action.

Yes I see your apparently, "contradiction", however, if GOD's will is expressed through OUR free will then the "negatives" and "positives" must all coexist. Not directly by His Hand but by our hand, which was his creation.

Perhaps is would be good to look at it this way:

The concepts of good and evil or bad and good or mutually dependent. You may not necessarily be able to have one without the other.

In the context of this last election cycle. Had it not been for the Liberals unrelenting pushing of the social envelope [which most believe would have been for the worse], the moral clarity that expressed itself in our election and subsequently to the world may not have happened.

In other words, issues like Gay "marriage" (bad) resulted in a judgment by the majority of our electorate (good).

It always brings me back to this one fundamental precept that all living creatures have the ability to make individual choices in life - that's their pathway to the God.

In effect GOD is as much (more) about the journey than the destination. It's up to us what pathway we take.

This doesn't necessarily mean that each path is pure and righteous in itself (and without evil, for that matter).

The challenges we face in our lifetime, the ups and downs, are a necessary part of the Equation.

Either moments (events) define us our we Define the moments and as consequence set our own unique direction to the Almighty.

This a Faith that all religions should at least find some commonality [and therefore Tolerance, Acceptance] and ultimately celebration!
