Speak Out Against the Planned Assault on Falluja!

November 5th, 2004

Speak Out Against the Imminent Assault on Falluja!

• Contact your local media outlets to denounce the planned attack
• Call the White House to express your outrage: 202-456-1111
• Get ready for street protests should the full-scale assault begin
Download and distribute leaflet

Does the Bush administration plan to destroy Falluja in order to save it?

News reports indicate that the Bush administration will soon launch a major military assault on Falluja. More than 10,000 U.S. soldiers are amassing on Fallujah’s outskirts, and U.S. warplanes are already bombing neighborhoods around the city.

If the U.S. carries out this assault, it will dramatically increase violence and chaos in Iraq. It will not bring about the peace and security that Iraqis greatly desire. The military occupation has already fueled anger and resentment against the U.S. and swelled the ranks of terrorist groups. We need to bring the troops home now and adopt a new approach that will move us toward peace, sovereignty, and security.

Military officials believe Falluja is the home of the nation-wide insurgency. Their goal in this assault is to induce other insurgent-held cities to capitulate before scheduled elections in January, and send a message to all Iraqis that opposition to the occupation has a high price.

U.S. officials and U.S.-installed Prime Minister Allawi say their only goal is “to liberate the people and to bring the rule of law to Falluja.” But when the U.S. military besieged Falluja last April, at least 600 Iraqis were killed, most of them civilians. Given the scale of the threatened assault, far more Iraqi civilians could be killed this time around, as well as many U.S. and Iraqi soldiers.

We will be sending you more information, resources, and calls to action should Falluja in fact suffer a major attack. But in the meantime, we urge you to begin raising a loud public outcry against the Bush administration’s planned assault.

TAKE ACTION!

* CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS

Flood your local media outlets with messages of opposition to the impending assault on Falluja. Write letters to the editor and send in opinion pieces. Call in to your local talk radio stations. Ask reporters if they would like to interview an anti-war activist.

* TELL PRESIDENT BUSH YOU OPPOSE THE ASSAULT ON FALLUJA
- Call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1111. The switchboard operator will likely forward you to the White House comment line, but you can only leave a message there Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. If you can’t get through, leave your message with the operator. It’ll make it to the President.

- Leave a webmail message at https://sawho14.eop.gov/PERSdata/intro.htm . Be sure to select “write a differing comment,” “National Security,” and “Iraq.”

* GET READY FOR STREET ACTION
If the assault on Falluja or any other major military escalation takes place in Iraq, we will need to be as visible and vocal as possible with our antiwar message. Make sure your group or organization is aware of what's happening; start planning local protest activities and post them on our calendar.

If you are not already in a group, click here to locate an organization near you.

* KEEP ABREAST OF DEVELOPMENTS IN IRAQ
Get up-to-date news from Iraq from Occupation Watch; be sure to join their email list for regular updates.

I do not disagree. But, I would rather our troops know that there are those out there who are standing up for them while they are abroad.

This is not required, but, as the wife of a soldier who went to Iraq, this would be most troubling to both of us. It is difficult enough just to get your mail to the guys. Add in this group and well I can only imagine how they would feel. Beloved says they would be ticked off.

Please, send as much Reynold's Aluminum Foil to these people as possible. They are in need of the chapeaus to protect themselves from the transmissions from the mother ship.

With Allawi's declaration of 60 day emergency and the institution of the curfew for all males from 15 to 55 (I believe, correct me if I'm off on the ages) It means that we can now, with impunity, kill it if it moves after dark. We shut off the power. If it glows on IR, kill it. If it shows up on the night vision scopes, kill it. I thinks it's what the Jarheads and Big Red One boychiks have been waiting for. HOOOOORAHHH. Snipers UP.

Maybe we should concentrate on making sure the soldiers know the majority of Americans do not feel like these pinkos. We need to make sure we support them in their battles, pre- and post-, and after they come home.

That would be the best thing I think. Is there any place that I can find out when units are coming home and where? We need to make sure they know, as soon as they are back on American soil, that we appreciate them, thank them for their service, and support them and their families.

And volunteer at VA Hospitals. Our church's ladies group goes twice a month and plays BINGO with the veterans at our local VA hospital. Those guys don't care why you are there, or what you do while you are there. They just need company.

The lefties complain about the war and then get all upset when we try to do something about it.

As long as this garbage receives main stream media attention yes. The thought that the troops might see this, well they should not have to see it.

They are serving for each of us, if this is what I can do to let folks know that they are honorable patriots and that these antiwar jerks do not speak for them, then by gosh I will do it.

In fairness(and this pains me to say) a lot of the liberals(not far left, but the more moderate types) I know are not for pulling out or wimping out on Fallujah.

It's just the far left that makes these kind of retarded statements.

Rock on. The knuckleheads over here think that this is a town like ours (or Greenwich Village) where people go to Starbucks and Target and a curfew means the garage band down on Elm has to shut down or the HOA will given them a fine.

No two stones left standing.

What friggin EMPIRE has the US built .Id like an answer to that ..We are the ONLY country in all of history that has defeated an enemy and then has given back their country and rebuilt it for them after a war .Marshall Plan anyone ..Friggin MORONS the lot of them ..

Actually we built the only empire in history that actually bettered its people. We promised the Philippines its freedom in 40 years in 1906 and gave it INDEPENDENCE on July 4 1946, in spite of the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. Puerto Rico is the Caribbean island with the highest per-capita income and the highest standard of living. Samoa and Guam samey-same in the Pacific. Cuba was handed over to its people in 1902 and then again in 1909 after we had to go back ina and straighten out the books. We actually went back paid Mexico for part of the territory it ceded in the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo and purchased additional territory--now part of NM and AZ. Alaska and Hawaii were welcomed into the Union as states.
That record sure beats the sh!t out of Belgium, Portugal or France in Africa, the Middle East and Indo China, or the British Raj.

P!$$ on 'em. Meet 'em in the streets and kick their a$$es.

Geez, all that work and they had ZERO impact on the war or the election!! Bush won on an Iraq War platform and we are about to kick some terrorist butt.

They have descended into irrelevance and they need to realize that Bush is not Nixon and he will not be bullied by a bunch of smelly hippies who would rather protest than work into retreating from annihilating those who murder our fellow Americans.

Let 'em protest - the country is sick of that crap.

So, maybe we start protesting the protests. What they are doing so undermines the success of our troops and how we are perceived around the world.

As a counterprotest, let's all walk around with marshmallows on a stick.
