We must make it perfectly clear to Rick Santorum that if he lets Specter chair the judiciary committee, we WILL NOT SUPPORT HIM in 2006 for Senate. Instead, we will support Pat Toomey.
We must also make it perfectly clear to Bill Frist that if he does not block Specter Chairmanship, he might as well not even enter the 2008 primaries.
Both of these men hold the power over Specter and we must threaten to boycott their futures if they ignore their base.
Piffle
Santorum does not control it. I can't see why we'd boycott one of the most strident opponents of the liberal judiciary because Specter got this position. Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Repeated and constant threats from the "base" will not achive your goal.
Yep, I agree .. like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Nothing like biting off your nose to spite your face!
I'm at a loss here, Salami. Santorum is a strong prolife advocate and doesn't control the process. What are you thinking here?
Let's ignore your suggestions.
Not me sport.
I guess great minds think alike.
Remember that our "devout Catholic" Santorum staunchly supported baby-killing Specter to end the campaign of conservative Pat Toomey.
No.
Santorum is #3 in the GOP Senate PEcking order (Frist, McConnell, Santorum). Santorum is Republican Conference Chairman, and it is nothing to shake a stick at.
Well, the reasoning is that Santorum actually endorsed the anti-life Specter, over the solidly pro-life, and conservative Toomey.
I don't think Governor Toomey would run against Santorum. Besides, Rick is a great conservative Senator. I'm sorry he supported Specter, but realistically it was Bush's support that put Specter over the top in the primary, not Santorum's.
Let's tell GWB we'll vote dem in 2008 too. That'll scare em.
Santorum is the Republican Conference Chairman, #3 in the senate pecking order. In that role, Santorum is also the Senate's mouthpiece. Santorum also endorsed Specter over Toomey, which he did not have to do. I believe he made comments vouching for Specter's ability to perform as Judiciary chairman.
Because of his staunch support of an infanticide-promoter like Specter, Santorum should join Kerry in refraining from Holy Communion.
Oops. I gave Toomey the governorship. I meant to say he'll be to busy running against Rendell for governor.
