We must make it perfectly clear to Rick Santorum that if he lets Specter chair the judiciary committee, we WILL NOT SUPPORT HIM in 2006 for Senate. Instead, we will support Pat Toomey.
We must also make it perfectly clear to Bill Frist that if he does not block Specter Chairmanship, he might as well not even enter the 2008 primaries.
Both of these men hold the power over Specter and we must threaten to boycott their futures if they ignore their base.
What then, are the dymanics that bring you to FR to discuss the political future of Rick Santorum? Specter, as heir apparent to the Judiciary Chairmanship, is fair game. As are the other members of the Judiciary Committe, Frist, up to and including the White House. But why pick on Santorum? Other than geography, he has no more in common with Specter than any other Republican Senator.
Santorum has some very intense enemies on the so-called pro-choice side.
It's this vanity post that's silly, not you.
I am still laughing.
Yeah, but our friend out in the Pacific thinks Rick isn't being accountable to his base (not being publically critical of Snarlin' Arlen). I mean, what a constituent to think?
Toomey had the same problem against Specter in the Primaries that Hoeffel had running against Specter in the general election -- people really didn't know who the other guy was running against Specter. Specter ran some hard-hitting negative ads against Toomey that quite frankly made him (Toomey) look like an idiot {I can't remember all the specifics right now, but they really hurt Toomey in the eyes of many of the people that don't have the time to delve deeper and make researching Politics a 2nd (part-time) job}. I think the negative ads helped far more than the President's endorsement.
As a Pennsylvanian, I'd rather have a senior Senator like Arlen in the Senate. But Toomey did have some good ideas on Social Security Reform in the House of Representatives. But having a moderate Specter in the Senate will ultimately help in getting at least partial Social Security privatization (IMHO). Hoeffel was against privatization. Specter is at least susceptible to partial (limited) privitization. However I would say the Specter is more like to go for the 2% solution rather than the 6.4% solution.
Sorry, multi-tasking and not proofing...
I can't image that there would be anything that would please the media more then to try and distract the President and the nation from what comes next then to create a nice little war and scandal within the Republican ranks.
We shouldn't allow ourselves to become distracted by this before we make it the new headline for the nation.
Santorum is #3 in the senate leadership heirarchy and Santoru,'s endorsement of Specter was key in Specter beating Conservative Pat Toomey in the primaries.
You're still not answering questions.
LOL! I'm waiting for an intelligent question. Don't worry, I have a long time to kill waiting for one. Perhaps you could borrow one from somebody.
It won't be long before we see the Bush bashing. It only took about 2 weeks after his first election before they were bashing him. Some people just don't have a life unless they are trying to create turmoil.
This is how the Perot campaign disintegrated from within. Lots of petty egos ...
US Air Power and the US Marine Corps, a helluva combination. No offense, but as am Airman I have FAR more respect for the Marine Corps that the US Army. My wife and I (she's also active duty) both work in a joint enviornment ant the US Army consistently underperforms when in comparison to the other services.
Carl Rove is an idiot.</sarcasm>
"As a Pennsylvanian, I'd rather have a senior Senator like Arlen in the Senate."
-- I think that was Specter's campaign slogan. It was Daschle's too.
Off the subject but to the point of an educated civil debate. Although there are a few people that will condescend and even hit you with an insult, for the most part this is another Great Debate in our wonderful and still free democracy.
God blees all...LOD
How can Bush have a mandate if even his own supporters are not willing to allow him a few days peace after a grueling election.
Basically, these keyboard kids don't realize how much work the real supporters put out these law few months.
Your military view point is as sound as your political...utterly lacking in intellegent thought.
We WILL be paying for if another conservative judge gets "Borked" by Specter. If Specter gets the Chairmanship and does it again, we will feel it's effects for years to come. It doesn't matter how much control we have in the Senate if the Courts can shoot down our legislation.
His "supporters" are.
