From a practical point of view, I like the idea of a Human Life Amendment. However, I believe that it would violate every principle on which the Constitution is based. I think this is clearly the prerogative of the individual states (see what I wrote in #36). Abortion (and any other form of murder) is NOT a federal issue, except when it involves federal property. I want abortion OUT of the federal domain, as long as the federal government or courts have a say, it will always be a debate. Capital punishment was successfully "handed over" to the individual states (although I personally think it will be declared "cruel and unusual" punishment and permanently banned within the next few years).

That being said, I do think that a gay marriage ban IS a federal constitutional issue. Gay marriage in one state would create a dilemna when the people move to a state which bans it. Although this has never really seemed to bother the leftists when it comes to the Second Amendment.

I really think that if we can defeat Hitlery in 2008, it will be over.

The Greens have the same politics as most of the 'Rat leadership.

Leaving aside the war on drugs and the war on terror, many of the Libertarian principles are very similar to those embraced by a lot of conservatives.

A lot of people are saying that America is becoming more conservative, but I'm not so sure that's the case. Much of the time (at least on the domestic side), it seems that both the Republicans and the Democrats are moving to the left and the Republicans just happened to have moved to the point where their views are consistent with most Americans.

I think the Bush legacy will depend on whether or not he can successfully show America that "compassionate" conservative domestic policies are in the nation's best interests.

I Think Rove is getting a bit ahead of himself here. Look what happened to Bush Sr. We had Reagan for 2 terms then Bush Sr. for one and we thought he would win because of the Gulf war but it was not to be. Then the people shocked us and elected Clinton for 2 terms. Rove should watch what he is saying. American people hate cockiness. We should be happy we won and appreciate the American people for doing it, but not gloat in it. The American people pick up on gloating right away and hate it.
