With the White House, the Congress and the Supreme Court nominating process under GOP control, Tuesday's election could lead to decades of Republican rule in Washington, Bush strategist Karl Rove said Sunday.
Asked if President Bush's victory has the potential to "give a governing majority to the Republican Party for decades," Rove told "Fox News Sunday's" Chris Wallace: "It does. We'll only tell with time."
"It depends on how Republicans act in office," the White House political guru said.
"Does the president pursue the agenda upon which he won this election? And do the Republicans in the House and the Senate work with the president and with Democrats to make some important changes in our economy and in our country?"
That being said, I do think that a gay marriage ban IS a federal constitutional issue. Gay marriage in one state would create a dilemna when the people move to a state which bans it. Although this has never really seemed to bother the leftists when it comes to the Second Amendment.
Sorry to bust your bubble but that aint happening. The green and Libertarian sure arent in the mainstream. The Rats will be fighting with us until the end of time. Lets give em hell
Im sorry did I use the word Aint? Oh my goodness. How embarassing. I was having a moment there :)
Don't get overconfident. The Dems will come back swinging.
The Greens have the same politics as most of the 'Rat leadership.
Leaving aside the war on drugs and the war on terror, many of the Libertarian principles are very similar to those embraced by a lot of conservatives.
A lot of people are saying that America is becoming more conservative, but I'm not so sure that's the case. Much of the time (at least on the domestic side), it seems that both the Republicans and the Democrats are moving to the left and the Republicans just happened to have moved to the point where their views are consistent with most Americans.
I think the Bush legacy will depend on whether or not he can successfully show America that "compassionate" conservative domestic policies are in the nation's best interests.
I Think Rove is getting a bit ahead of himself here. Look what happened to Bush Sr. We had Reagan for 2 terms then Bush Sr. for one and we thought he would win because of the Gulf war but it was not to be. Then the people shocked us and elected Clinton for 2 terms. Rove should watch what he is saying. American people hate cockiness. We should be happy we won and appreciate the American people for doing it, but not gloat in it. The American people pick up on gloating right away and hate it.
