Rove: Election Could Mean Decades of GOP Rule
NewsMax ^ | 11/7/04 | Carl Limbacher

With the White House, the Congress and the Supreme Court nominating process under GOP control, Tuesday's election could lead to decades of Republican rule in Washington, Bush strategist Karl Rove said Sunday.

Asked if President Bush's victory has the potential to "give a governing majority to the Republican Party for decades," Rove told "Fox News Sunday's" Chris Wallace: "It does. We'll only tell with time."

"It depends on how Republicans act in office," the White House political guru said.

"Does the president pursue the agenda upon which he won this election? And do the Republicans in the House and the Senate work with the president and with Democrats to make some important changes in our economy and in our country?"

Dems have already forgotten about this election. For them, four years from now will be a whole new experience.

Very true. I well remember the news media predicting the demise fo the Republican party after the 1976 election. If public servants do not serve well, they should be at risk.

"I'm not sure of this. These presidential elections are a bear. The dems fight mean and dirty."

I am not at all sure that the GOP can rest on it's laurels. Not long ago we couldn't pry Bill Clinton out of office with a crowbar. We've gone from Clinton to Bush in less than 10 years. Things can change back and forth very, very quickly.

If we're lucky, the GOP might face a credible threat from a genuinely conservative party.

Duh. I think people know how serious the judges issue.

I am a broken glass Republican, but I view the SCOTUS as issue number one, tax reform next, SS next.

No. It won't.

And, I don't know that we'd end up using the power well, if it did.

However, things will get worse after whatever breather this gives us to work while there's light--loving and attracting people to God and His Kingdom.

At some point, the looming satanic world government will descend regardless.

Thankfully, God will take care of His own whether by martyrdom or taking us out of this life miraculously.

And THEN PEACE WILL REIGN AS CHRIST RULES MORE OVERTLY FROM A NEW JERUSALEM.

The evidence is abundant for those willing to look for it. Others are evidently as blind about such plentiful evidence as the DIMocRATS.

You're exactly right on taking abortion out of the Federal courts- though I think it won't be so soon and I doubt if any state ever totally bans abortion.

Looking at any election map makes it clear we have a very easy job to hold on to the Senate absent a catastrophe and a good chance at the Presidency. We have no long term advantage in the House though, just incumbency for now. The Dems' appeal in urban areas will help them in the long run if we can't change without losing the rural vote.

I can't see any Dem much less Shrillary beating Giuliani or McCain in 2008. Both are strong on defense, whatever their other faults, and are liked by many Dems and moderates.

Tuesday's election could lead to decades of Republican rule in Washington

Guiliani may be our only hope

How can both of these statements be true?

Wait 'til they realize just how much ELSE they lost on Tuesday. Firm control of Congress, the virtually-unheard of ouster of the Senate Minority Leader (aka Little Tommy Dashole), and a major step toward having super-majority control of the Senate. Kerry is insignificant in contrast .

And here's another kick in the stomach (for the Democrats). Bush is going to get at least two - maybe even three or four - appointments to the Supreme Court. We could be looking at a "Bush" Supreme Court for the next generation.

The Arlen spRectum version of the GOP will NOT lead to generational control...

Seems exaggerated. Newt Gingrich used to talk in such an exalted fashion after the 1994 victory, but how much did he really leave behind? The question is what are they going to achieve this term and this session? If they succeed here and now, the voters will invite them back next time, if they don't, no amount of big talk today will change anything. What Gingrich and Rove don't get, is that most voters have little patience with politicians' desire for final victories and lasting appreciation and tend to take their revenge on those who claim that they are indispensible or their party's control a permanent feature of the political scene.

(look for trade and outsourcing to be sleeper issues. These cut both parties along class lines. There is room for an economic nationalist party)

Bingo. the Dems could in fact expand thier base by co-opting and repackaging the paleocon ideologys of protectionism and isolationism then add the greens anti corporate enviro nut jobs and they could expand thier lunatic fringe base in two directions. There was already plenty of evidence of this in their last campaign.

Yes, but history tells us that, unfortunately, not until after that generation will we know what this means.

I can see Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and several southern states totally banning abortion (with the possible exception of rape and incest).

Especially if the Republicans run a pro-abortion candidate next time around. The "sleeping giant" may have awakened at last, but they will go back to sleep if they are betrayed.
And I fear they will be, when the Rep are already talking about running Pataki, Giuliani or McCain.

I think that it is very possible that over the next decade, the Democrats will effectively disappear. I think what we will see is the Republicans firmly in control with the Greens and Libertarians competing to be the second major party.

Think again....

A major portion of labor unions, blacks, teachers, Jews, Hollywood, and yes catholics love these people. And that is not to mention the MSM!

Will they go away in the next decade? I hardly think so......
