The killing of controversial filmmaker, allegedly by an Islamic extremist, has sparked several anti-Muslim incidents in the Netherlands, including two attempts to burn down mosques, Dutch media reported Sunday.
Eight alleged Islamic extremists have been arrested in connection with Tuesday's slaying of Theo van Gogh, who earlier this year released a film critical of how women are treated under Islam. Among those arrested was the alleged 26-year-old killer, identified only as Mohammed B.
Though mainstream Muslim groups condemned the killing, it has caused an outpouring of anger in the Netherlands.
Vandals threw red paint Saturday night on a center in Amsterdam that aids immigrants, many of them Muslim. The Emcemo center is located several blocks from the spot where Van Gogh was killed, and its director, Abdou Menebhi, told local television station AT5 that he "assumed (the vandalism) was done by a racist group of some kind."
In the town of Huizen, police arrested two men they say were caught preparing to ignite a fire at the An-Nasr mosque Friday night, national news service NOS reported. A mosque in the city of Breda sustained minor fire damage in another reported arson attempt.
Earlier this week, a small fire was set at a mosque in Utrecht, police said, and a pig's head was left in a plastic bag outside a mosque in Amsterdam.
NOS reported Sunday that pamphlets with the image of a pig and a slur against Muslims were circulating in Rotterdam.
Van Gogh, a distant relative of the famous painter Vincent van Gogh, released "Submission" in August. The film was criticized as insensitive by some Muslim groups.
On Tuesday, Van Gogh was shot while riding his bicycle and then stabbed and had his throat cut. His killer left a 5-page note quoting from the Quran and threatening more attacks. Prosecutors believe the killer was part of a terrorist group with international links.
Of the eight suspects arrested, six remain in detention for the killing, including Mohammed B.
Judges ordered two suspects released Friday for lack of evidence, a decision prosecutors said they will appeal.

The Pig's head thing is really a good idea! I do believe there is a glut in the pork market here, perhaps an export market can open under "religious artifacts"
In two weeks, all their anger will be forgotten and the Dutch will wring their hands about how they need to be senstive to the Islamofascists.
Too little, too late. If the Dutch try to take any serious action against Muslims in their country, they be subjected to a guerilla war which they will subsequently lose. Based on my (admittedly limited) knowledge of the Netherlands, they are a society that has had any trace of "fight" drained out of them. I would expect most of them to emmigrate rather than fight. Unless something changes radically, I expect to see a Muslim Netherlands in my lifetime. I pray that it will not be, but I have little confidence in the Dutch at this point.

Good news. If the various governments, and worthless royal family, of Holland won't protect the country from islamic invasion, then the people must defend themselves.
Yep we see how quickly leftists forget their defeats (coupla days) and attacks on their country. I guess its OK by them to be losers.

If you think anti muslim incidents have increased in Holland, just wait and see what happens here in America if they hit us hard again. I'd hate to wear a rag on my head and have dark skin in that case.
And we here are in no way putting up with what Israel has.

But look what does happen: all the "sensitivity" and condescension to the "cowboy" Americans. Yet, when we lose 3,000 to the barbarians, the number of crimes against Muslims doesn't even show on the radar screen. Now in tiny Holland, the number of retaliations is big and undoubtedly growing.
