NEW YORK (AP) -- A 25-year-old from Georgia who was distraught over President Bush's re-election apparently killed himself at ground zero.
Andrew Veal's body was found Saturday morning inside the off-limits area of the former World Trade Center site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said.
Veal's mother said her son was upset about the result of the presidential election and had driven to New York, Gus Danese, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, told The New York Times in Sunday's editions...."I'm absolutely sure it's a protest," Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told The Daily News. "I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic..."

Yes it is somewhat absurd, but with the leftist politicos and media demagoguing things to the extent they have, it's not entirely surprising.
There is something really wierd about someone that would travel all the wa from GA to kill himself to protest W's win. Better to do it in the lobby of the AJC.
Absurd? Here's hoping some of his like-thinking pals find it "inspirational."
Micheal Moore's movie has brainwashed a lot of people.
These kind of stories are ridiculous. I have to wonder just how stable this individual was before the elections. Anyone who thinks this suicide is about the election is very short minded.
What can one expect from a delusional liberal. I would also believe the news media would portray anything bad that happens as a result of President Bush's Re-election. Liberals get over it, your klown lost. It's a great day to be alive and to be an Americian.
If a man isn't liberal at 17 he has no heart if he is not conservative by 25 he has no brain - this guy's old enough to know better - sorry no sympathy here!
Guess he couldn't afford the plane ticket out of the country.
AMF
P.S. I thought DemonRATS didn't approve of firearms.
He can wait at the gates of hell for ARAFAT to arrive and blame him for the mess he's in.
Indeed, an unfortunate byproduct of Democrat/MSM fear-mongering and scare tactics. Sort of a left-wing trickle-down affect, destabilizing the country and pushing over the edge people who were teetering on it.
It's sad. As an older male, I remember believing in so many things only to find out they were actually the opposite of what I initially thought. This guy must have had other problems in his life.
There's more to this story. the MSM is using this poor guy for their own agenda. There isn't any proof positive that he killed himself.
The media and Hollywood assholes like Michael Moore is directly to blame for this. They have stunk up the airwaves and movie screens with hateful bile and now they are reaping it's rewards. While I'm thankful that we didn't see the rioting we all expected, there is no doubt that a very large portion of America has been totally brainwashed into believing a lot of negative idiotic crap about Bush.
Right on. This moron was only a bad relationship with a girl (or boy), or a bad grade in art appreciation, from offing himself. At least he had the good manners not to take anybody with him.
LIBERALISM KILLS!!!!
On another thread I was addressing the absurd charge by the left, that Bush was guilty of not having turned out to be a uniter as he had promised, after their last two years of demagoguery. The liberal socialist left in the United States is skitzoid. Well in truth they aren't, but their mixed (false and exploitive) mesages sure are. They have only one goal, and that is to take down the nation our founding fathers handed us.
New York has thousands of suicides. One story about someone upset over the election? People have killed themselves over far stupider things.
I heard of one guy at MIT (in MA) who jumped out a window when the electric hand drier wouldn't work for him in the restroom.
Maybe he actually found out there was no real Santa Clause, or Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy.....
