Robert H. Bork is a distinguished fellow of Hudson Institute

ROBERT BORK SHOULD BE A "DISTINGUISHED" CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE US SUPREME COURT

Were it not for one man...ARLEN SPECTER

Robert Bork had his legacy stolen from him. Arlen Specter should now have a collapsing legacy exposed for all America to see.

Taking action through authentically constitutional means to prevent yet another constitutional travesty shows greater respect for the document than standing by while five of nine justices chisel into the tablets of the law the caprices of the elite class to which they respond. An amendment preventing one instance of judicial depredation would at least represent a democratic choice--indeed a choice by supermajorities, given the requirement of a two-thirds vote in each house of Congress and then ratification by three-quarters of the states.

Excellent point!

How old is Bork? Could he be nominated again?

He's in his 70's as another post mentioned. I don't know if he'd want to endure the process, but then, he'd be ready this time for what they'd be dishing out. I would love to see it just to watch the libs get their knickers in a twist!!

Yeah that was my thought too. Would sort of be a great exclamation point to the election victory.

I also think that he needs to make Clarence Thomas Chief Justice. That would really seal the deal. He handled himself real well at the hearings last time.

Comparing it to a lynching was brilliant.

I like Bork, but I'm with George Will on this one. The single purpose of the U.S. Constitution is to limit government.

If we open it up to other purposes, it will be the end of the Republic.

Wouldn't it be sweet if Robert Bork helped to keep Specter out of the chair?

Arlen Specter said:
My Senate record of independence has demonstrated my willingness to break with my party. I had no hesitancy to oppose Judge Bork where I was convinced he was far outside the constitutional continuum or mainstream because his insistence on "original intent" presented a real threat to constitutional construction representing the consensus values of our society.

Limit the damage that Arlen Specter can do: call or write to the other members of the Judicial committee and urge one of them to run against Specter for the chairmanship. Any of the other Republicans would be better than Specter. The two with the most seniority are Grassley and Kyl.

Good article.

I wish he had mentioned the need to appoint better judges though. Unless the Republicans in the elected branches of government are willing to fight tooth and nail with the leftists in the courts, and they most certainly are not, our only hope is to change the make up of the courts.

I only demand two things from Bush and the Republicans for both my vote and my activism on their behalf;

1) Prosecute the War on Islamism to its fullest.

2) Appoint strict constructionist judges, especially to the Supreme Court.

Everything else is, if need be, negotiable. Both the imperial judiciary and the Islamists are pledged to destroy our society and form of government (though in different way, obviously). These are fights we cannot afford to lose.
